I am really struggling trying to remove the headlight bulb from my 96 civic. I have lifted the power steering resevoir out of the way, but I can't seem to get the bulb out. Are there tabs for the bulb or does it twist out? I don't want to break it, and b/c of the cramped space I can't stick my head in there and check it out. Thanks

 

If its like the 98's, just remove the rubber cover/boot, then remove the metal clip that looks like a bent up paper clip. Remove the wire harness and pull the bulb out.

I think thats how it goes, not necessarily in that order.

 

pull the rubber boot off and there is a hinged spring that holds the bulb in.

 

well thats kind of what i was asking. how do you get the rubber boot off, does it slide out or twist out? this sucks

 

Just pull on it, it comes right off.

 

this can apply for the 03 civics too right? i tried to get my girlfriend's headlight bulb changed today and i couldn't figure out how to remove that rubber housing.

 

People really need to learn how to read their owners manuals, it tells you half of what you need to know right in it.

If you have an 03 owners manual, go to the back, look up "Headlamp" or "Lighting" in the index, go to that page, and read the words on it. If you dont have a manual, sorry.
