i have always had good luck with BEL and Cobra. they have a cobra model for about 179 with a compass, safety warning system, 360 protection (of course), and all kinds of goodies, and a womans digital voice warning you of radar. wooooooohooooooooo. she sounds so sexy, yet, stern and outgoing all at the same time. wooooo baby!

I have just ordered Bel 980 from ebay. I've read reviews on this one and it seems to be the best one for the price. In stores it usually goes for close to $400 US, I got it from ebay for $235.

best for the money would be the Bel 870, 880, and 890. You can get these for like under $150. If i get a detector i will get one of those.

belltronics is really good.. the one i have mounts right behind the steering wheel, and has sensors in the grill, on the front mirror(behind the rear view mirror), and one on the back mirror in the corner.. i have never passed a cop, local or statie without it giving me ample warning

it can't really tell you if there is a cop around
it warns you if it detects the radar. keep in mind that cops don't always use them.

Dont waste your money on anything under 300. I've had a bel and a corba, both about $200 and both did nothing. One had a man talking...and that annoyed me. The other (the bel) had a women...she was so sexy, yet stern and outgoing at the same time..LOL. anyway, whatver you get (im saving for the top of the line escort) i'd make sure you put it up high. in a car so low to the ground you really gotta, plus winshield wipers block reception (or the manual was joking...).

oh yeah then there is that horrible Laser. Ya don't hear anything till it zaps ya
then your **** is off the hook.
I have a radar jammer, my friend use to work for cops in michigan and he confiscated it. It actually send a fm chirp back out, so it messes thiers up. Only down side is it makes my detector go crazy.
*insert rambleing here*

look for price...serriously you want one that is expenisve...otherwise the thing won't make a noise at all, until you've been shot going 90 and the cop is chasing you. at that point the thing (cheap ones) goes insane making the situation even worse. next you return it to wherever you bought it (why i wouldnt get one on ebay) and use the money to pay the ticket.

You can check out the new Car and Driver they did a shoot out on some radars detectors. Like some have said, don't spend less than $300 and expect it to work properly...hell nothing works properly. I have $89 Bel that I bought two years ago...it sucks. It's darn annoying. If I were you, I'd save up the money and spring for the V1, it did get first place finish in the shoot out.

yeah i saw the pics of your car. its pretty bitchin dude. but i am more into sleeper look. all i have is an exhaust and a lower rear tie bar on the outside, (and tint) which i just got a mo fo ticket for about 3 hours ago. and i have had it on for almost a year. oh well im just gonna pay the ticket (depending on price) instead of strip it then have to pay to get it done again. oh well. i love cops! they light up my life. (last comment made while on crack) anyway just get a freakin bel or cobra! if a cop is using a radar gun that only clocks when he wants it too. it wont matter what kind of radar detector you have cause your busted like a light bulb dropped off a ten story building. unless you can find a radar detector that has the pyschic ability option. but they are hard to come by.

i have an passport 8500 by escort and it kicks ***. im selling it soon to get money for a h22 swap. i also have a 2 or 3 year replacement warranty from bestbuy that will go with it also. i payed about $40 extra for the replacement plan. it pretty much guarantees that if you have a problem with it you take it back to bestbuy and they replace it with the same one or give you what you originally paid for it (over $300 in the store), to get a different one. ive been using it about a month. make me an offer and i might let it go right now.

bel 980- very sensitive for freeways and also ~$215 shipped on ebay. 2 year warranty, and the usuals except not v1 style direction. Also upgradeable software... dunno how useful that will be though. Always warns of radar, but watch out for instant on. It's a real bitch, just like laser. When you're hit you better be going triple digits.
