Insurance for performance mods?
For those guys who got there cars stole and got money for all there parts, what did you do to make sure you got the money? I took pics and have receipts but do i have to tell the insurance co. about the parts beforehand and put them on my policy or are the pix and receipts enough?
It depends on the company and the adjuster, but generally you are supposed to submit the receipts or at least a list of mods and their values to your insurance company before any claim is made.
For example, Geico will give you a form for 'customizations' that you are required to fill out and send back if you want your mods covered. When I signed up for Mercury and the agent inspected my car, she asked if I wanted the aftermarket parts covered on the policy or not. It may add a little bit to your premium though, because the value of your car will be higher.

when i had state farm, they covered up to $1,000 w/receipts i showed them.
it really depends on the company, most companies cover up to $1,000 in aftermarket parts and then some companies allow you to purchase additional insur...you usually have to have receipts though.

For 21st century, I believe they cover up to 2k worth of additions to the car. If you want addition coverage, it'll be 90 dollars per each thousand.
Just make sure you have receipts and take pictures of everything installed in your car.
