1990 accord- stock tape deck removal
It is actually kind of tough, the reason is that there is two 8mm bolts behind the radio that are accesible barely through the front part of the console on either side near the firewall. You need a variety of tools such as a 1/4 socket with short, mid, and long extensions. Either them or a flexi-socket driver, which is basically a 1/4 socket driver where the shaft is flexible to bend and get in places at an angle. You need a flashlight and some time. Unfortunately there is no other way to do this that I am aware of, and I've been doing car audio for about 10 years. Good luck!
i found the bolts, but i tried for about 20 min and still couldnt get either one
i didnt have the patience to get them out tonight.
anyone have a hint to get the screws out?

From what I remember it was a major pain in the ****. You have to remove the screws around your center console (around your shifter). This is so you can get it out of the way when removing the deck. Remove you ashtray, there are two screws that need to be removed where the ashtray goes. There should be two more screws way back behind the ashtray track that secure the trim. Remove those screws. The last set of screws that have to be removed are in the trim panel right above you stock tape deck (they go in at an angle). As far as I remember, you can remove all of the aforementioned screws and you should be able to get the factory deck out.
It seems like I may be missing something, but I hope this helps. Check on Crutchfield's website. They might have some info.

Hey, im a new 4gen owner (92 Accord Ex Auto) and I am having the same problem with my radio removal. However, I stumbled across this site and the link you put up. I just want to say thanx cuz I have been looking for a way to do it myself for about 3 days now with 1 attempt so far at removal. I have one non-radio question though.
Throughout my forum searching i've read that the F22A6 block is found on the EX-R model. I also read somewhere (too many forums in the last few days), that the EX-R was Canadian or something. I have F22A6 printed on my block and was wondering if there was any way to verify that it really is and not an A1/A4.
9:15 a.m PST: I have successfully stolen my own anti-theft stock deck. (THanks so much Rubzerk!)

I got my code from honda, and now my radio works. Lost a couple screws from the console, but easily replaced with zinc 8 x 1/2" oval head tapping screws.

at least you didnt make the mistake of tearing your whole dash apart and learning the hard way that 2 bolts would have done it... it took me endless hours to get it out, and endless more to get it back together

I was about to do it and then I find this forum. I must have spent about 8 hours straight just looking for directions on how to remove the radio.
