I got this tranny free from a friend and just want to mess with it to learn a thing or two about transmissions but first I need to know which on it is. I know it's from a single cam but what model?

and
P4A

do either of these sound familiar?

I think my hatchback tranny has a e5f stamp on it..
I think my ex coupe tranny has a k4f stamp on it

I'd have to look..

yeah i have a feeling it's a DX tranny, also for an almotor single cam motor would the DX or EX/Si tranny be a better choice?

n/a? EX/Si tranny of coarse. it has shorter ratios and a way better final drive. now i don't know if it will work in the 92+ trannies, but if you can find a 88-91 Si final drive, stick it in a 92+ EX/Si tranny. its 4.25 (near B16 tranny spec) and it will help allot for a n/a sohc.

 

Hit up mistabone on PM. He's the sohc tranny god!!!!!! He can tell you exactly what you have in no time.

 

Since the L3 Si (88-91) and S20 Si/EX (92-95) have the same 4.250 final drive, nothing is to be gained.

Beside the shafts are shorter in length on the L3 tranny.
