Those who modded their OEM EK fog lights to use w/ parking lights on only
I currently did this mod as tutorial'd by jimmmmah... I completed the install and also have an alarm on my car. Everytime I press the alarm button to engage and disengage the alarm, the fog lights flash with it, along with the parking lights. After I did this about two times, all lights stopped flashing, parking and fogs.
Has anyone with OEM EK Fogs (99-00) done this mod and has an alarm? If so, do you hvae these symptoms? I don't know how to fix this...

did you check your fuses you probably just had too much power on 10a fuses if the they are blow i recommend to bump the fuses up to withstand the extra power.

Which = fire hazard.
Either disable the parking light flash on your alarm, or re-wire it to something else.
BTW, what is so difficult about just turning on the foglights when you turn on your city lights?

I guess I was thinking of someone else who posted about wiring the fogs to the parking/city lights.
Wire is only rated for a certain amount of current. Fuses are there to ensure that current limit isnt exceeded. If you are blowing fuses, you are exceeding current capacity on the wire. When you exceed the current capacity on a given gauge of wire, it heats up, and sometimes will heat to the point where the wire/jacket will catch fire.
So either re-wire with larger gauge wire THEN run a bigger fuse, or wire your fog lights to something else. IE: dedicated power.

i know i blew a fuse somewhere. I wired up the fogs this way b/c when wired up w/o the mod, the fogs only turn on when headlights are on, not parking lights. I wanted to turn on the fogs w/ having my parking lights on only, and can turn them on or off whenever i want. I would wire to something else, but don't knwo wiring too well and don't wanna light my car on fire; like siad with the upping the ampage on the fuse.
Has anyone actually done this mod before and had this happen?

Me andd my friend wired my ex's civic with angel eyes instead of the regular parking lights and we also run aftermarket fogs on the same wire. We've had no problems to date and this has been over a year. I dunno if this has to do with the fact that her projector headlights came with heavier duty wiring than the factory or if it's simply you wired something wrong somewhere. I would say disconnect the fogs and see if the lights still work, if it does than your wires just aren't up to the load. If they still don't work then it's something else. Good luck.
I know for a fact that the lights won't work b/c I know it's a fuse on the alarm. B/c my parking lights and headlights work pefectly when I switch them on. It's just that I drew too much current from the circuit when it flashed my fog lights too. I guess it's not a big deal. I'll just replace the fuse and put back the mod so I can ONLY turn on the fogs when the headlights are on. But I really like vice versa!
Thanks to those who helped. If anyone can help more and let me keep my fog lights being able to turn on w/ parking lights on and have a really easy wiring solution for me, LMK

I have a DA and I have wired it so that my foglights can be turned on as long as the accessory's are being powered (i.e. - defroster, A/C, etc.). All you need to do is wire up your foglight switch so that the switch itself gets power from the defroster switch. In this way, you can run your foglights only when the car is turned to the second click/or when the car is running.
This is how you would do it on the DA, I'm not sure if it's the same on the Civic. But here goes.
The fog switch has five wires, the defogger has six.
First, find the red/yellow wire in the FOGS switch. Cut this wire about 2" away from the switch.
Now take the cut wire that's STILL attached to the switch and splice/solder it into the black/yellow wire of the Defogger switch.
You're done. Now cover up everything with electrical tape including the other parts of the cut red/yellow wire of the fogs switch and see if everything works. The fogs should come on/off independently of the defogger switch which means you DON'T have to mess with the defogger switch ever. Just turn off/on the fogs button anytime and they WILL turn off automatically when the ignition is off.

nice. Thanks for the response. So when can you turn on the fogs? When your headlights are on only right? meaning second click on your headlight switch? Or can you turn it on w/o even turning them on (on the first click only). Thanks
The way it's wired right now, I can turn on the lights whenever I want but only when the car is on basically. By accessory wire, I mean the foglights will only see power on the second key click (power turns on to A/C, defroster, power steering - that click) or when the car is actually on. On the first key click only the stereo should be on. If the foglights are on the on position, they will turn on once you start the car and off when you turn the car off. It doesn't have anything to do with being wired to the corners. You can have the fogs on with the headlights on, highbeam too, or lights off. It doesn't matter. PM me if you have more questions.
When it comes stock from the factory, you can only turn on the fogs with the headlights, the way I have it wired, you can turn them anytime like daytime running lights and it's not a problem at all. You're just powering the switch itself from another source.
