Default What's Wrong With Del Sol's?

I don't get what is wrong with Del Sol VTEC's.

People are always like.. 'Del Slo's SUCK!' I dont get it.. They have the same engine as an Civic SI, weigh less, costs less... And you get a targa top instead of a sun roof (which I personally think is better)

Are you people just joking around, or is there really something that I should know about Del Sol's? =X

cars are just personal preference. some people like it. some people don't like it.

couples reasons of peoples' hate...

two seater, so they automatically think girls car.
the weight is pretty heavy for being a two seater. 2300+ (any model)

just remember, personal preference. if you like it, thats all that matters.

So what if every topic I post is about Del Sol's.. This is the Del Sol forum, is it not?

I got questions about them.. I don't see a problem.. And they weigh 2108. =P

-But the reason I ask is really because I don't know if there is anything that is really wrong with the car that I should know about. =P

don't be too sure about that PHOBIA. not hating, but now you're talking out of your ***.

and no, they don't weigh anything near 2108lbs.

targa tops leak water from 93-94 seals. supposivedly it stopped in 95-97. common though.

My 50 year old mom drives a 1997 Del Sol (last year made, newest available) and that ************ creaks and rattles on the inside worse than my 1990 civic HB.

I personally dislike them because they are heavy for their size, they are not as rigid/stiff as the Civic, they are cramped inside (my opinion), and in general they do not feel as solid as the Civics.

My stock 1990 HB with it's old-*** suspension, etc. handled better than my mom's 1997 Del Sol S model.

...and the reason people bash them so much is because the forum is primarily Civic people who typically buy their cars for the light weight and functionality of the Civic chassis. Del sols don't appeal to the masses, that's all.

I see this topic headed for a padlock soon though...

1.So what if its a 2 seater? Unless you're still in high school and need to transport all your buddies. And if you need a back seat driver than obviously you cant drive for sh*t.

2. it's small, wow you can see that, i can't? when people gut their hatch many make then 2 seaters too and a hatch is as small as the del sol but with a second row of seat.

3. you're in the wrong forum because you must of drive a hybrid or a electric vehicle. PZ out and have a nice day!

p.s. the roof top leaks can be solved with silicone sealant and a new upgraded 95-97 weather seal.

don't forget "TO EACH, HIS OWN" and not your bias opinions.

There is nothing wrong about a Del Sol, like someone else said, personal preference. I have 97 Del Sol now and have own a 93 VX and if I had to pick I would take the Del Sol. Feels good in the summer time to just have the top of and cruise with the wind blowing through my hair.

As far as weight goes, this has been talked about before. A Del Sol SI weighs the same as a 92-95 Civic SI at about 2300. And the S weighs about 2200 so no need to argue the fact that a Del Sol is a heavy car. Just throwing this in, a Del Sol VTEC only weighs about 2400 so that alot lighter than a 99 SI.

^^^^ opinion, not fact

i just got rid of my '90 civic hatch gutted with a b18b, and the sol handles MUCH better than the hatch did, and has no creaks or rattles on the inside as opposed to the many random noises that would come from the inside of my hatch

dude, do you not know how to round numbers?

93 S manual/auto - 2295/2387

are you seriously going to round downward? 5lbs away from 2300.
