Default some help please... which master cylinder, am I getting ripped off??

I have a 94 civic coupe, it originally came with the d16z6 engine, my master cylinder took a leak and since it's winter and the ride is stored I bought rs trailing arms and I got a 40/40 proportioning valve, I also got the same master cylinder and booster that my car came with. I know I should opt for an integra one, but cannot find one. yesterday, my parts guy calls me up and says he's got a 98 EX master cylinder and brake booster and he will trade me straight up for the one he sold me originally. He says it's better than the 92-95 ones. Should I take it? I know they look different aesthetically, but the 96-00 (except sir, I live in canada) and 92-95 civics all have drum brakes in the rear. I just want to know if I should keep hounding him for an integra one or will the 98 mastercylinder/brake booster do the job.

If it was me I'd hold out for the Integra one. That has to be one of my favorite must have upgrades on a Civic.

The booster should read 290V and the m/c should say 1 on the side for 1". Contrary to popular belief, the LS, GSR and Type R ones all have this same setup. I've pulled the LS and GSR ones at a junk yard many times and I owned a Type R... all the same.

Okay wait a minute...

You shouldn't use either one of those. The integra version will require the integra booster & you will have to bend & flare the brake lines. That goes same for the 96+ civic MC. Besides, a 1" master cylinder is only needed for ABS cars.

The EASIEST way to go about this, is to get your hands on the 91 civic EX 4 door master cylinder. It will bolt directly on to your stock brake booster & the brake lines will match up perfectly. It is 15/16ths (your stock one is 7/8), and is the proper size MC for your large 10.2" fronts when rear discs are added. That is the exact brake setup, part for part, on the 91 EX 4 door.

just talked to my parts guy again, the only 91 civic 4 doors has are dx and lx, come to think of it, I have never seen a 91 4 door ex in canada, I don't even think we got them here he just offered me 92-95 prelude and 92-95 accord and 96-00 civic as well as 88-91 hatch dx,cx,si also, 88-91 4 door dx or lx master cylinder/brake boosters. Any of these work w/ my setup? I have a 94 SI (US ex) with the stock 10.2" rotors up front and 94 integra ls disc brakes. Will any of these bolt up without hacking the parts or car up??
