How to pass emissions with a JDM swap
Here in MD they check it by a plug that connects to the ecu. With a JDM swap i think i need a USDM ecu so it will read properly for emissions. Is there anything i need to change if i change the JDM with the USDM ecu?
Well there are a few ways.. I would think your usdm ecu would run the car good enought to pass emissions here in MD.. If it doesnt pass you can fail the test and buy $450 worth of **** for your motor and get a waiver..
Or you can call them up and tell them that your engine blew up and you dont have the money right now to fix it and they will give you a 6 month waiver, then call again in 6 months with the same excuse.. I know a guy
who does this every 6 months and it works like a champ..

well anyone else have any input on this topic? What all is needs to be done to a jdm swap to make it pass emission since they just plug and play with the ecu? US ECU and thats it or is there more to it?
