Default Lightening up my car

I'm trying to lighten up my '91 DX. I have already taken out the passenger seats and stuff. Anybody have any more suggestions on what to remove from the car to make it lighter and faster. Any info would be great.

Depends on what you're doing and why. How much does the driver weigh? ~seriously~

Good lord man, nice avatar

Sunny Leone my friend, sunny leone. Anyways I way about 180lbs. Yeah I'm heavy and do nothing on my spare time. Um. I'd normally say drag race but I'm becoming increasingly interested in autocross.

well for autocross if you remove anything bolted down other than the spare tire and jack you will be classed differently, most likely you will be ok in sts, that is if you have any boltons. If not, run stock.
Remember, more seat time = faster driver = faster car

Low fuel load if your car doesn't get fuel starvation. That should make it rotate more too. What class are you racing in?

The best lose is rotating mass. Wheels, tires, flywheel, pulleys, etc. Other items to look at. going to a light weight battery, using the least amount of fuel yet preventing the car from fuel starving, lighter weight driver seat, removing AC, if not already done, remove radio and associated equp.

Go look at the Grassroots web page and search previous articles...they did an article about this a couple years ago.

Better put the seats and stuff back in if you run SP or ST in Solo-2. The rules don't allow for the removal of interior parts. Even SM restricts interior removal to a degree.

180 ain't bad....I got 5lbs on you, and it's currently under my belt.

Under the carpets lies a tar-like insulation layer. A heat gun and a putty knife will get rid of most of it. For the rest, you will need a chemical like "Goof-Off" to get the rest out. All told, it's at least 25 lbs or so. A racing seat will save you a ton of weight too, and look into getting Kosei K1 race wheels, or something similar. Don't go crazy on the diameter of the wheel - it adds weight. My Prelude came with 15" wheels, and I track it on 15" wheels. My CRX came with 13" wheels, and I race it on 13" wheels.

Other things - an after market header and cat-back exhaust are much lighter than their stock counterparts. If you have a rear wiper, you could remove that (along with the electric motor, which is the part that actually weighs something). Removing the a/c system is a big weight saver - especially the compressor. That's all I've done to my racecar, and it's nice and light now!

It depends on the class...but the short answer is not much.
