I just pulled out a few of my spark plug wires and looked at the part that touches the spark plugs (the black cylinder shaped part at the end of each wire) and theres a little bit of oil on all 4 i think...what does this mean?

I know it wasnt always like that, cause i had changed them a few months ago to new ones and i dont remember there being any oil on em at that point...but today i just looked and theres a hint of oil thats black on my fingers when i touch it...is this a head gasket problem? also, my oil and coolant pretty much always seems to deplete faster than normal...please help!

the only one that mentions oil being on the plugs says that there would be blue smoke and the engine would need rebuilding...and there isnt any blue smoke coming from my exhaust...just whitish usually mostly from bein cold out i thought

 

from what i read theres a leak in the piston ring or some **** i will try to find the info again

I pulled off my spark plug wires just the other day and they had what appeared to be oil or some sort of grease on them, I'd like to know the answer as well.

valve cover gasket, same thing happend on my saturn. the rings around the spark plug cylinders are bad.

 

ok..pretty easy answer, not too hard to guess...but what could or will happen in the future if its left alone...any major damage? and if this was just noticed and hasnt been happening for long, how long will it be okay to drive the car without something bad happening?

 

Do a compression test, and replace the spark plug gasket gromments that is underneath your valve cover. they are four little rubber circle gaskets.

they probably are worn and need replacing.

 

You can wait and find out or spend the $12.00 now and replace them.

Eliminate the cheap easy ones first. Saves time and money.

 

i dont think hes talking about the SPARK PLUGS! hes talking about the spark plug BOOTS. if thts teh case, then your spark plug tube seals are leaking, you need to get new seals, they arent that much from honda.

 

i had the same exact problems... u need new grommets. go to a dealership and ask for them.

 

oh yeah.. change your spark plugs too

Yes, we know what they are. What we are telling you is that your spark plug tube grommets are bad and you need to replace them to alleviate the problem. Basically the seal between the INSIDE of your cylinder head and the OUTSIDE is gone where your spark plug tubes are, and thus oil from inside the cylinder head is getting sprayed from inside of your head into the tubes and collecting at the bottom near where the spark plugs screw in.

You need (4) #4's. They are $3.12 a piece. And since you will be pulling the valve cover to replace them, you'll need a valve cover gasket as well. Go to the main menu for that site and look up the parts for your car specifically, since you never mentioned what it was. Theres a 94 EX in your sig for sale, but is that the car with the problem? Or is it another one?

 

what will happen if you don't fix this problem? one day your car won't start. it will seep through the threads of the spark plugs and foul out your plugs... one at a time.

going to change all of it when i do my oil change with seafoam
too lazy to do it now

if i get the 102585 001 1 GASKET SET NO COLOR 28.55 21.41 will that include all the gaskets i need to change all 4 rings and whatever else

he would need a si gasket since he has a GS-R Block (B17a1) with 1999 Honda Civic Si Head (B16a2)

 

actually, its a 91 jdm sir-1 civic head ...needed to update that

Give them a call to make sure.

 

not the valve cover gasket, the 4 o-rings that surround the spark plug holes in the middle of the valve cover are bad

 

when this happend to me i freaked the **** out/"just go the car and i didnt know what to do" i asked around and just replace the gaskets and it was fine anfter that.that was a year and half ago and i didnt have a problem since.also a first gen b16 motor.
