You mean lowering it? That's a myth . . . . I wish I knew where it keeps coming from.
You can lower an SH and the ATTS will work perfect fine. Although some people do experience accelerated wear on the CV-boots on more extreme drops.
But if you want to get rid of it, raylude is right - you can't just lose the ATTS. You have to swap in a base model tranny and intermediate shaft, and fabricate a mounting plate for the new intermediate shaft.

Ive had my SH dropped for over 2 years now and my ATTS works fine. I want to get rid of it but like everyone says you need get a base tranny and fabricate a mount for the intermediate shaft. If your staying NA doing the base tranny / intermidiate shaft conversion will be fine. But if your planning on going boost, i would just replace the entire motor with a base one. Since no one knows how strong or how much torque a fabricated intermediate shaft bracket would hold. I sure wouldnt want the shaft separating from the block half way down the 1320.
As stated above, you won't lose ATTS from dropping the car. However, if you slam the car and ride around for months, you will risk burning out the ATTS unit.
Just don't slam the thing to the ground, leave one finger gap all around.
