Default auto swap

i bought an 89 dx hatch for my girlfriend. it has d15 dpfi and auto trans. it would be nice for her but at the time she didnt like it so now i have it. all my other cars are sticks and having an auto to commute is so cal is ok with me to and from work. but the power is not there. i wanted to do a ls with an auto swap but the trans mounts no one makes. what to do? some suggested a d16a or single or dual cam zc. but the ecu for the trans will shift with the d15 power band. i dont know much bout autos but i thought they shifted based on a vacuum signal, or is that just old school stuff. i dont wanna try to run 10s with it. just have a lil more fun. i figured a b18b or b20b/z would be the best bang for the buck and have the torque to compinsate for the power the auto sucks out. plus i wanted to get it smog reffed.

any help or advice.
i have a crx si with a single cam zc so i dont want the 5spd conv.

If you already have another car to play with then just leave this one alone..
Keep it reliable

Im in the same boat you are. Trying to make the wifes car fun!!!!

Im gonna convert the stock engine to mpfi and then put a 5spd manual in it. Probably all in the same weeked if Im lucky. Its just a matter of getting all the parts together. Im 90% sure the axels from the auto will fit. But then I have to locate a shift linkage and pedal. As well as a new flywheel to do the swap. Not to mention a new ECU since the ECU is different between autos and manuals.

As for the engine swap, check out the ZC swap at fourthgenhatch.com
