Default Starter Cut relay...Can I by pass?

I've been using a small jumper to by pass the starter cut relay that I just made out of wire to start the car. Mine went bad and its 55 dollars to replace.

Is it safe to just by pass this relay and leave it out? What is the purpose of this relay?

if its a standard bosch type relay with a green 14 gauge wire and a black 14 gauge wire accompanied by a orange 20 ga. and maybe a yellow 20 ga. as well its most likely a starter interupt from a DEI product. you can just reconnect the wires blk/grn and be done with it. But you wont have any protection without it or with a jumper in its place either?

As an installer for almost ten years, I always HATED using the simple relay ingnition/fuel cuts that DEI used. Simply for this reason. If it is a relay, go buy one from your local parts store and replace it. It only goes one way in the socket. I would bypass it personally and ask someone to add a "ghost switch" for start if your alarm has that option. Just a though. -Chris

Well been using the jumper wire for about 5 months now and all is good. I never really found out what that starter relay's purpose was.
