i have a mini me question

i scroll through the forums every day and i never really cared to find out what a mini me was untill the other day so i searched and found that it is a d15 non vtec with a y8 head and sometimes a d16 non vtec with a y8 head. My question is is it because you dont wanna swap a D16y8 motor in or because of some other reason? also since my motor is a d16y8 does that mean its a mini me?

no its not and a mini me is converting a non vtec to a vtec
