Thats real bad..Honestly I would think about getting new 1/4 panels and rocker panels..or just go to carolina and find a rust free civic..

But if you're gonna stick with those you should think about welding in some galvanized steel..so it never comes back..

my fathers car is galvanized steel and he drives it in snow when theres salt all over the road and sand and he never washes the car and it has no rust..And its an 89..

It looks pretty wet in that pic. You might want to stop washing it with salt water.....

You should look at this stuff called por-13. It stands for paint over rust. But u will probably have to do some grinding and bondo work first.

Brand new panels. Go to a junk yard and cut some sections out.

Thats not surface rust..That deep rust from this NJ weather..

He's gonna have to cut and weld no matter what..And epoxy sealer works better then por-13 and doesnt cost as much,,

I would DEFINITELY do NOTHING LESS than buy new quarter panels. They're all over for civic hatchbacks.

And now everyone should know why I have removed the lining (or whatever you would call it). This will only hold on to moisture and dirt

Wow man, I have every place with aftermarket sheetmetal memorized and I don't see anything for wagons. You should find a couple/ hatchback and see how close the rear 1/4 panels are to eachother.

Yup that would be you best bet. They only way to really get rid of it is cutting and welding.

I have the same problem on my hatch as well. My buddy told me that they actually sell the quarter panels now because its such a common problem. I'll get the information from him. Going to the junkyard is great but usually you either have a civic with smashed up quarter panels already or the quarter panels already look like yours.

Yeah man, hatch and coupe owners are the most fortunate when it comes to rust repair. Check out this website and scroll to Honda, I think the guy quoted me like $70/panel.

get a panel, have someone do the welding (unless u can), grind it down and put some body filler in. its not gonna be perfect, but it will slow/stop the rust problem. have fun.
