VTEC head??
I was told that I could get a vtec head and some models would match/fit my engine. Which models vtec heads bolt right onto a 99 4door LX engine. Also.. if this was to be done, what else needs to accompany this. i.e. - ECU.
Thanks.
Thanks.
LX civic????? You have a D16Y7 depending on the year.
I don't know how to do this setup but it has been done.....
do a search for a mini-me setup as that is what it is called......people usually put the Vtec heads on the 1.5L

u can use the 92-95 si/ex head from the d16z6 or u can get a head from a 96-00 d16y8 from the ex motors. it is a pretty easy swap, if u do a search i'm sure some one has explained how to do this.
make sure u get the vtec solenoid and wiring harness. u can add wires to your harness pretty easily but plug and play is always nice. also u will probably want to get the intake manifold from the vtec motor too, your stock intake manifold will work but not as well as the vtec one (96 up are the better manifolds). u can run the vtec ghetto style and use an rpm activated switch to engage the vtec solenoid, this is the cheap way out, i have seen may cars done this way and still run reliably for a long time. oh yeah i forgot if u use an older (92-95 head) u will have to modify your distributor also no biggy.
