You're going to have to use the search function in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Their are tons of topics on this. If you are just scared about water being sucked in your engine, I have a bypass valve I will sell for cheap. But your best bet is to search.

I sold my AEM CAI in favor of my J's racing intake.

I daily drive my caR and started getting a bit too nervous in the rain.

That is pretty much all they are good for - noise. The hp gains for the money you spend are very minimal IMO. Let's spend $250.00-$300.00 on a system that sucks! But hey, at least your car sounds siiiiiiiick, bro.... Next you can complete the annoying noise upgrade to your car by spending $700.00 on a Tanabe Racing Medalion exhaust to complete the useless equipment mods. **** it, at least it sounds awesome, and you just wasted a grand on drawing unwanted attention by making your car sound like an amplified hornets nest with someone vomiting in the background.

Aloha,
Brandon

**edit: better save my *** here. I'm referring to the AEM units.

do NOT remove the fender plastic liner splash guard and you will be fine.

I got stuck in some of the WORST rain downpours everywhere and hit what I thought was a small puddle that was a HUGE pothole and nearly dunked the front of the car.... it was fine.

As long as you keep the fender liner in so that the tire doesn't spray water on the intake you'll be fine.

Oh, you're after the CF and mad vTaK sound yO! Ok.

Then quelling your concerns with the comptech icebox would definitely not be what you're after.

That's misleading. Just don't drive through puddles where your filter will become completely submerged and you'll be fine. If you're driving through puddles that deep, however, hydrolock is the least of your problems...

You're just after the sound...take out your stock resonator and keep the stock intake.

Cost = 0.

A cheap way to get the ricer effect you want.

Your intentions may be different, but you sound like you just want the noise. Just get a bypass valve, and learn not to drive through lake sized puddles. I've had mine well over a year, and have driven through some torrential downpours. I was and still am perfectly fine.

just use aem and put a bypass valve on it, youll be fine. you're not going to get more than 2hp gain for most intake apps, but ya wanna hear VTEC more so throw the valve on there and there shouldnt be a problem.

i like my aem. 'cause it looks blingy. sounds blingy. (to the point that it's obnoxious on the track) and well, was free. so... until i can get my hands on some comptech ish or mugen/ j's racing... the red water sucker stays. no gains, no losses... w/e. freeeee.

I on the other hand took the restricting part off and connected an aluminum dryer hose from the intake box to the bottom of the front bumper. At least that way I figure that it will get cold air but not having the filter exposed outside the engine bay. And and still gives you that stock look which I preffer!!!

Yeah and you lose power. Been there, tried that. But whatever floats your boat I guess.
