Default Tranny swap d16y7 -> y8

Hey all, i will be swapping out my tranny for a y8 in the future. My question is, is this a simple swap that i could do myself with no prior expierence and a helms,(just unbolt one, bolt the other one back up the same way, reconnect sensors whatnot) or should i take it to a shop and just have them swap it. also what would be the price i should expect to pay for this if i did take it to a shop?

Thanks for any info

btw if you can find a thread on this link me up i searched and didn't find this answer

it's a pretty simple swap u need to take the axles out broke loose the knockle and take off the shift linkage then just bolts u might as well put in a new clutch while at it. as far as a shop do it u are looking at 100-200 for labor.

i was gonna do it myself but i didnt have the tools. So i took it to a shop and they did it for 250. Watch out for the bitch companies that try to jack your money from you.

It is a VERY simple install. If you know how to turn a wrench, you can drop and install a transmission. There is no Engineering involves. There is no special tools involved. Sraight forward swap. With the $$ you save on a shop doing the install, you can get yourself an upgraded clutch/flywheel. Think of it that way.
