Default Price quote please for my '94 h22 Accord Turbo

I usually hate these kind of posts but trying to figure out if I should part out my car (before getting it to run) or finish and sell as running. Can't really put this in classifieds since it's not really for sale yet...

The car is at a rally shop getting the last bit of work done: ignition setup (individual coil packs using MSD DIS-4), re-wiring for Autronic SMC standalone, other misc wiring and then tuning

Here's as much info I can think of:
1994 Honda Accord EX
2000 USDM Prelude H22 (purchsed in 2000)
Golden Eagle sleeves
JE 9:1 pistons
Crower rods
Crower cams/springs/retainers
ProDrive Oil pump
Greddy OIl Pan
Skunk2 Cam Gears
OEM Brand new timing belt/water pump
C&R High Flow Radiator
ACT 6 Puck Clutch
Quaife LSD
New OEM Axles
Polyeurithane filled engine mounts

Fuel:
ND 720cc injectors
ND 260 lph fuel pump @ 43.5psi
Aeromotive Fuel filter
Aeromotive Regulator
Custom made fuel rail

Ignition:
MSD DIS-4
MSD Coil Packs

Turbo setup:
T3/T4OE Turbo
Tial 40mm WG
Tial BOV
Custom 3" exhaust with quick release clamps to drop exhuast and leave downpipe only
Magnaflow Exhaust
FMIC (I forget measurements but it's huge! )
Custom IC piping

Suspension:
Tein SS Coilovers
Replaced all bushings with poly-eurithane
OEM New Tie rods
ST Rear Sway Bar
Front and Rear strut bars

I know I'm missing stuff but anyway, this car was started to be worked on around 2001 after I bought my 2000 Prelude engine with almost no miles on it (out of a totalled prelude). I tore the engine down completely and sent the engine block to Golden Eagle for resleaving, and sinde then had it sent to a race shop to have the crank ballanced, and bottom end assembled. The rest of assembly was done at a shop locally here. But much of the work stopped after then end of 2001 because I lost my job and didn't work until this year. So it's been getting worked on again finally but now that I'm married, my wife is furious at the fact of how much I've already spent and more furious that I have to spend more to finish it.

Engine is finished and in car but the above mentioned items still need to be done. I know I won't be able to keep this car once I get it running. I'm wondering if I should just start parting out the car now before any of the parts are actually used.....or finish it, get it running and sell it.

Can anyone give me suggestions?

So from a reply like that, i feel that people would first want to see proof that the engine is actually built right by seeing it in action. I was just trying to decide whether that would make it sell better as a whole, or to never use the parts and part them out and sell....

I'd part it out. You would get more total. Pop the f22 back in it and sell all the parts separate. I seriously think you'd get more that way.

Why are you selling?? That's a hella nice setup, very similar to my current setup. If I were you I'd get it running and tuned, and then decide if you still wanna sell it. I bet you'll change your mind

I wish I could just finish it. But then my wife would make me sell it anyway. Nothing worse than knowing what a great car you have and having to sell it.

We're trying to buy a house by the end of the year and this car will add a significant amount to our deposit. I have a daily commuter for now so she sees no need for me to have this car. It even has my hard worked stereo setup installed....even the suspension work was all done by myself...it'll be sad to see it all just go to someone else...but i guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the woman happy.

Im not sure how having that car would cause your loan deposit to be higher? It would make your insurance premium higher but I just dont see how it could have an effect on the loan deposit.

If you are trying to get a house I can show you the right way to do it and even possibly get 0% down loans. Keep the car and send me a PM if youre interested.

In this case(buying a house) sell all that honda craps in a heartbeat, seriously the home value is rising super fast. in other word, invests in something that returns instead of moneypit

yeah what he ^ said.

house will appreciate, the car will do the opposite.

it really sucks to have put so much money, sweat, and hours into the project just to sell it. atleast finish it have your couple weeks of glory, some dyno sheets, and a time slip before selling it.

I disagree. If it's your hobby and you have made the investment already to get this far she should do what she can to make YOU happy and allow you to complete your project. Don't be whipped!

I do feel you tho - a house is more important, however it sounds to me like you don't want to sell the car and you're only doing it to make the wifey happy. In making her happy you're making yourself sad. What's the point in that? Can you make ends meet without selling it? If so, keep it!

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. Yes, I know I shouldn't do it just to 'make the wife happy'. The big reason I feel I should do it is, the money from the car will make the difference of putting down 20% or not. If you don't put 20% down, it seems they like to charge mortgage insurance which adds that nice extra $150-200 a month to your mortgage which is high enough as it is. :S

We really want to make sure the mortgage is low enough to not make us struggle...we'll see though. supposedly this year's tax return will be a happy one for me...

If you sell that car your goona cry man. My accord is gone and i miss that little bastard, nothing handles like a 5th gen ex, not even my prelude SH has the same feel. It's fun, but the accord has a **** load of potential, same suspension basicly and it's quite a bit lighter... god... what was I thinking...

Tell me about it. Plus I basically replaced the whole suspension on this car with brand new parts. Even all the bushings are brand new stiff poly-eurithane. New Tie-rods...It really feels like a brand new car driving it. Handles like a ***** too...with crappy tires!

Maybe I will keep it afterall. I hate to think of the labor charges I'll have to pay once the car is done though. eek

I just think that something with this much time and effort thrown into it would be a BIG waste to sell, infact, your selling yourself short. Find another way to make the house work or something man, those cars are getting too hard to find now days, don't throw away a perfectly great project car. I found 2 94 ex coupes within 500 miles of my house that were 5 speeds. That's it man. They both probably sold by now too. I should have kept mine but I used it as a trade in on a 2000 prelude sh. 2 weeks later the cops called my house saying the car was abandoned in rochester. I was sad that someone would just abandon my accord. It was loud (custom 3 inch exhaust) but it was realiable. Oh, and it had a higher compression motor than my lude' has... (h22a1 JDM)

Yea, I agree. I've worked so hard on this. My goal was to have a comfortable 4 door car that was fast...since i'd never be able to afford an m5.

That's why I chose to do this with a 4 door accord and didn't use the stiffest suspension available. The car handles awesome, but isn't annoyingly stiff...and once the engine is done and running, I think it'll be a great car both on street and track. I also spent the time to fully sound deaden and install my stereo. It's really exaclty how I wanted the car to be....

Well, I guess we'll see in the next month or so what will happen...if I part out, get ready for tons and tons of parts for sale.

Well, honestly, I'd get this beast running and tuned and then sell your 'commuter' and use that money toward your house. Because your setup (like I mentioned, almost identical to mine) is very streetable at lower boost levels. I still use mine for daily driving (running 7psi), well mostly. I also have an '01 EX. Also, my wife is a lot more understanding I guess. She doesn't complain.....much

i like that idea . . . would you be able to sell the commuter-car instead of your accord? it'd be nice to keep your dream-machine

How bout that, 9 months later, my mechanic hasn't even finished. I think I'm really leaning towards just getting it done and selling. My interests have changed so much since I started this that I'm not even that interested in driving this car anymore. I would rather have a junkard and save up for a dogde charger or something.

Here's pics of last week...mechanic 'claims' he has just about a week left in it (and then left on vacation for all of october! :S)

Like I said before, I know I won't get what I put into it so if anyone wants this for a good price, let me know and I'll PM any of you once it goes up for sale. Of course I won't do this until the car is running and dyno/tuned...running perfectly.

Basically. Re-wiring all sensors to the autronic standalone.

Luckily I got him to agree a flat fee for the whole job. Haven't paid him a dime for labor yet and he hasn't changed the amount to charge me....prob why my car is taking forever, he keeps taking in other smaller projects to get paid. Almost want to just pay him all the labor costs but I got burned before and rather wait till it's done and running.
