Cracked transmission case...
I just installed the tranny and went on a test drive and when I came back, I noticed a large puddle of tranny fluid under my car. I figured it could be the casing not completely seeing but most likely the problem was the axle seal.
When I went under the car, I noticed this:

That cracked peice is perfectly circular and I can spin it around. The tranny is a CTR tranny with ATS lsd. After I got it, I put on a brand new usdm bell housing (currently cracked) onto it. I believe I was supposed to do something to this housing before installing it?
It looks like as if the diff just made contact with the housing and broke it right across.

yeah news to me...it appears as if you hit something though! Good news is that you can fix that with some JB weld no problem. Drain it...make sure the surface is clean and dry and apply the weld. If the caR is not a daily then just let it sit for a day to dry. If you need the caR asap then take a hair dryer on the hottest setting for approximately an hour and all will be well

What do you mean?
Chris - who wonders if this something you think you were supposed to do (but did not do) is the reason for teh crack?

Didn't see your question sorry!
What I meant was, was I supposed to shave/shim that side of the tranny? I know you do have to do that for the clutch housing side but I didn't know anything about the bell housing side.
Stuff like this shouldn't happen out of the blue! This case is practically brand new bought from the Acura dealer.

I don't know but I'm going to just drop the tranny and put on the housing it came with and call it a day. I don't want to mess around anymore.

i think b2 means that if you use a usdm case half on one side and a jdm case half on the opposite side to build the tranny, you have to do some shaving.

hmmmm....thats a possiblity! I cannot say that i know anybody who has used different halves though!

yea good luck man. Let it sit for a few days after the weld and make sure you do it right so it doesn't happen again and nothing else goes wrong,
Good luck!
Good luck!
looks like the diff wasn't shimmed properly
and the case gave up, because the combined width of the diff and shims was way to wide, and was loading up the transmission casing

don't you agree it might be better to find the root cause before jb welding it back together?
chris - who knows nothing of shims and shaving when it comes to 1/2 usdm and 1/2 jdm trannies except what dan gsr just p0sted.
