Tracking and Khumo 711's
Just wondering to those who have had the 711s or anything comparable, how badly did yours track? I mean did they follow all indentations in the road pulling the car in different directions? Mine mostly does it on the highway. I know its not my alignment, just had it done. Tires are almost 2 years old, maybe they are just getting worn?
like i said, your car is going to feel everything on the road. that includes indentions, bumps, potholes, and whatever else you can think of that is messed up with the roads. try to avoid these as much as possible. you can't go over these and feel nothing like you used to.
i had 15" 711's and never had a problem.
when i had 215/45/16 on my integra they tracked very bad. I attributed it to the wide tire and really low profile. It was a different tire but I think it's the diamter/width more than the tire.

I rode a few times on 205/40/17's on my car and it constantly pulled left w/ a good alignment. Only thing I can think is the tire width, but cars that come with a large tire stock I would imagine dont have this problem, is it because of the suspension setup of the Civic? Stock or modded? Or is it another possible problem?

He's feeling the road pull the tires more with the indents / ruts in the road. There's a technical term for the ruts caused by tire wear but I can't think of it. Regardless, the bigger, wider, stickier tires you get will exagerate this problem. Illuzionz was correct.

you will still feel the road on stock suspension and 17" rims, but not as much as you would with modded suspension and 17" rims.

Let me know if Im wrong here HollywoodEG2 but what I think your trying to say is the rear ties don't run in the same path with the front going down the road, correct? As if you car migt be going sideways down the road?
No, its as if you are riding in a car with a bad alignment and is constantly pulling to the left or right. But in this case it just happens to pull in whichever direction the imperfections in the road go.
I've had 711's before and they seemed twitchy, but after I got an alignment done it tracked fine. If your toe is out then the turn in response/twitchyness is a bit more pronounced. ...nevermind, i see u just did alignment.
Ok I had 17X10 on my 95 impala stock it had 285/40's on it and it never pulled going down the road either way. It also had kumo extas(sp?) Corvettes have 9-10 wide wheels on the front and I never heard someone that owned one say it pulled? I would check the alignment again they might have did it close to specks but not good enough.

Those cars you mentioned didn't experience the same problems with wide tires because they are both a lot heavier cars and rear wheel drive. Your car is following all the ruts in the road because your tires are probably a little worn on the insides and the toe setting is probably still a little off. Lower profile tires follow road ruts more because they have less sidewall flex. My car was scary on the highway when I had my 205/40/17's on it and they were worn a little. I swapped back down to a 205/50/15 and got an alignment and my car rides perfect now.

i didnt have issues on 215/40/17 until they wore quite a bit, but i also stuck with factory alignment specs as close as possible, when pressure was too high or too low they dd tend to track with the indents in the road though.

I've heard it called tramlining. My A032Rs did this in a noticeable way. They were also loud as hell. Just the compromised you take for running a race tire on the street. Oh - this was not a function of tire wear they were the same from when they were new to when cords were showing.
