Wilwood brakes
Hi guys
I am from holland and i am studing to be a mechanic. In about 5 months I will graduate. The plan then is to sell my Honda del sol and buy an ITR. Now I am really into JDM. I have sold al of my bodyparts,ICE excetra that i have bought for the del sol to go for the JDM-Style.So i am now driving aroud in a stock del sol.
When I buy the intagra in about 6 months i want to have some kid of setup for the engine that i have put together on paper. Now i am searching a lot of info on the net looking for the right part to add to my Ideale setup. And i was hopeing that you could help me out to. My plan is to get about 230WHP out of the engine. but it has te be N/A. So can you tell me what you would do in order to get 230 whp. EX. skunk 2 intake. spoon trottlebody.exectra... thanx a lot.

Welcome to the site, glad to have you here.
I would recommmend you do some searching on this site for a lot of good information about performance parts and dyno charts.
And remember - the ITR is not about having muscle-car HP numbers, it is about being a incredibly balanced, poised and communitive FF track car...

OUCH!
I'm curious. Wilwood brakes are very very expensive. You going to race your future R?

Uh... no... they're one of the lower cost options out there.

I remember when I made a thread in this forum about getting an R and building it to 300whp. I said money wasn't a problem. I still feel retarded whenver I look at that thread.
Get the car first. You won't want to do anything to it.

I don't know about that. The R can be improved in certain areas....

compared to good pads/tires/brake fluid - yes. compared to stoptech, brembo, spoon, alcon, etc - they are much, much cheaper.

Hmmmmm. Good to know. Though when I initially made the comment I should have specified that I was referring to the difference between Wilwood and pads etc. At any rate, mental note.
Though this poses a question: If they are significantly cheaper than Spoon, Brembo etc., has anyone had the opportunity to feel the difference of the Wilwood system and a more expensive unit? This question being asked, did you feel the more expensive unit was worth the extra bread?

I can't answer your question based on experience, but I can speculate. I'm betting you wil notice no difference in the stoping/clamping/feel/heat dissipation between similar expensive and less expensive systems - the difference will be in the quality of the manufacturing and in the types of materials used (and the name, which does mean something at times).
Just my opinion.

i've talked to people who have installed both, and they said they wilwood's were pretty darn cheap. of course this is compared to the brembo gran turismo kits they usually do so......
Jeff (BoostedHybrid) had a bad experience with Wilwood brakes on his EG... I would check out your other options before purchasing them.
Some alternatives:
-Stock R setup with good pads and fluid
-NSX / Legend two piston calipers and rotors
-Spoon 4 piston calipers + ITR or Legend GS rotors
-Brembo kit
-Stoptech kit

Stock Rotors + 3rd Gen RX7 Calipers w/ custom bracket - would be cheap to make the calipers are cheap and easy to get.... oh well
only 'problem' is the caliper pistons have the same bore. But when u can pick up used calipers for $50/ea...

do you want 'cheap' parts on your car? i would not care to have cheap bits on my car that are doing a 'very' important thing.

IIRC the replacement cost of the floating rotors for the Wilwood kit is not cheap at all. And how about pad selection from other brand?

aquafina i have driven an integra a lot of times so i know how fast the car is. I als drive a new civic type r twice a week so i also know how that feels like. But i just want to have the right setup when the car arrives, so i know how much all the parts will cost me so i can keep this amout a side. And wilwoodbrakes here in holland dont kost that mutch but I still do not know what i schould take. I thout about spoon calipers in combination with brembo rotors and ferodo 2500 brakepads. But this setup will cost me practicly the same as a wilwood big brake kit. But thanks for the help..
