Best low profile tire size for a 16" wheel?
Im thinking about getting those Rota Slipstreams soon. The only problem is I dont what tire sizes that are available for that size rim that are low profile. I dont want a 205/60/16 tire because there too big. And doesnt a low profile tire help increase handling because of less sidewall flex? I have the eibach sportline and kyb agx shock setup ready to be installed. Also Ive been looking at brand names like the Yokohama ES 100. How do they compare to the falken ziex 512? I have those on my 17" rims and they work great and provide plenty of traction. Are the yokahomas a softer compound or do they last longer. Im looking for a performance tire that will still perform well in the rain. Thanks....
what you need is a good solid tire (non low profile) so that you don't damage your wheels on potholes and so you get a half way decent amount of life out of the tire...many tires are now made with real solid sidewalls for the exact purpose that you are talking about...not to mention, a 16" wheel with extremely low profile tires will just look dumb in your gigantic wheel well...

Which why I have the shocks and springs ready to be installed with it to get rid of that gap.....

Personally I prefer the low profile tire look but if you insist what tire would you recommend that has low sidewall flex??

bro I have 16s on my 95 ex and eibach sportlines i have 205-55. my car came with 205-50s. but the 55s lokk better and it'll keep your gear ratios the way honda made them. you'll get better gas mileage on the highway. but most of all they don't rub and it fills the gap in the felder perfectly
low profile tires dont make since anymore....the reinforced sidewall tires out today wont flex like older tires....frankly, a "normal" sidewall not only protects the wheels, itis makes the ride more comfortable, and cuts down on noise
ehh... try to keep overall rolling diameter around the same, you know, for safety reasons ;]
the yoko avs es100s are a level up than the ziex 512s, but they wear faster though.
some factors that are much more important than sidewall is the tire compound, besides, usually good tires these days have good sidewalls already.

Im pretty sure you can find a 195/.../16 tire. There are plenty of decent brands out there for not a lot of money, try doing research at tirerack.com. Basically just keep your original overall tire diameter the same, thats definitely the most important thing.

Yea you can pretty much buy any size tire you want but for 16's I would go with 205/55/16 or even 205/50/16 with the latter having a skinnier sidewall.
