Default ITR Florida Dyno Day FAQ and general overview PLEASE READ

Ok, I just thought I'd address you all. I'd first like to thank Dave and Kenji for helping to set this up. You guys rock.

The action starts at 10am on Saturday morning, Jan 12.

I just wanna do the "duh" post on conduct. When you arrive, try to park as close together, and without blocking any of my neighbors in. If I see a potential problem with your parking location, I'm going to tell you. Don't take it like I'm being a dick, but I have to deal with all these guys after the dyno day. Use your head - no burnouts or stupid car tricks in the parking lot or near the area. If you feel the need to do this, please go elsewhere. If I see this, I will ask you to leave. If you are bringing friends, please pass the word on to them. Kenji, please don't bring explosives

Second, I'm going to have a waiver/sign up sheet there. It's going to be first come, first serve. If you need to leave early, get there early. When you sign up, you'll be handed a sheet of paper with a number on it. Please put this on your windshield or on the dash so I can see it, and leave your keys in your car. If there is anything special about the car I need to know, please jot it down on this paper. Also, if you want wideband oxygen sensor usage, put this down on the paper as well. This speeds up the process greatly.

I will check the condition of your tires before we dyno your car. If you have cords showing or a nail in the front tire, I cannot dyno your car. This is done for everyone's safety. If your car is excessively low, I may not be able to fit it. Due to the large amount of cars signed up, I won't be doing any RWD cars. They take longer, and time is at a premium. Sorry, this is a ITR day

When cars are on the dyno, only the owner of the car and maybe 1 friend are allowed on the dyno. The cost is 40 dollars for 3 runs. It is an extra 5 dollars for the wideband. We will take the money at this time, please bring cash, and if at all possible, exact change. This also speeds up the process, as we don't have to shuffle through 10 people to strap the car down, or make change. All runs will be done in 3rd gear unless you specify otherwise. This is the way I've always done FWD's. If you are interested in knowing, 4th gear puts about the same amount of power (1-2hp difference, sometimes more, sometimes less), but takes longer to do. When I've done your three runs, I'll put the two best plotted against one another on floppy disc. The files are saved in Windows bitmap (.bmp), and can be displayed on nearly any computer. You can also convert them to JPEG and post them later, or you can print them at home. I do not have a printer, they don't last in the conditions the dyno cell presents.

When we are done with your car, feel free to hang around and watch.

General stuff:
1. The bathroom is behind the dyno. Or if you just need to ****, just go around the side of the building if you can't wait.
2. There is a big green dumpster in the parking lot. It's huge, and right in front. You can't miss it. You're all adults, please clean up after yourself.
3. I won't be lending out tools, jackstands, jacks, air tools or anything else, so bring your own.
4. If you are planning to install something, don't make a mess, and please don't get into something like tranny internals, clutch swaps, head gaskets or cam gears. I don't have room to store your car if you fudge the install, so don't put yourself in a position to need a tow truck or parts- I don't provide either of them
5. There is nothing near the dyno. No drink machines, ATM's, convience stores, or anything else. Plan ahead for it.
6. If you don't like the Bucs, tough. It's the playoffs, and you're in Tampa, you're gonna listen/watch them on my TV/Radio.
7. I only have two chairs. If you plan on sitting, you might be wise to bring a folding chair.
8. Smokers, feel free to throw your butts on the ground OUTSIDE. But please not in my shop.
9. The wideband oxygen sensor reads and logs your air/fuel ratio, and is far more accurate than the factory O2 sensor and gauges that read off of it. It's worth it if you have any sort of forced induction, or have more than just bolt ons, or if you're just curious. It's 5 bucks more, because the sensor is a wear and tear item. However, I cannot use race gas with it, it shortens the lifespan dramatically. Yes, I can tell if you run race gas, I wasn't born yesterday

Ok, that takes care of the DUH and FAQ's. I have to state these things, sorry. I am a really nice, relaxed, easy going type of guy. I love to **** around and have fun just as much as anyone (probably more so), but I have to set guidelines. If you aren't nice to me, I reserve the right to punch you in the nuts

Now, finally, for anyone who's salivating for directions, here's the address:

3201 118th Avenue North
Saint Petersburg, Florida 33716

We are in the two sets of blue warehouses with white trim. The dyno is located on the right hand side, unit #10.

I use and recommend http://www.mapquest.com for directions, it's free, and they have driving directions available from anywhere.

All in all, I'm really looking forward to this. The last ITR dyno day was by far the most fun I've ever had. I think we had 15 cars last year, and this year we have nearly double that amount signed up to dyno, and 8 more planning to show. It's going to be a lot of fun! Looking forward to it. See you guys bright and early Saturday morning!!!

Is your car RWD? I'm assuming not, so come on down.. I don't think we just limited it to ITRs ONLY now.. just FWD only.

"Due to the large amount of cars signed up, I won't be doing any RWD cars. " - John.

It's an ITR meet, but since your civic is fwd it can dyno. I'm sure John doesn't want to deal with people like the guy in the white t/a from the last meet who 1) almost killed all the bystanders when backing up his trans am, 2) killed the clutch almost cause he couldn't drive and 3) took a good 20 minutes just to get on the dyno then another 15 to strap in..

10. Respect John and his place of business. I realize that with 40 (maybe more) cars/people showing up you might find someone there that you don't like. Neither John nor myself want to deal with you if you start talking **** to someone you don't like. Keep you petty fights for some other day. If you do start ****, you will be asked to leave. If you don't leave, it takes cops about 2 minutes to get there (well close to there, so maybe 2.5-3 minutes). I'm not worried about any of the people coming from afar, but some local people may have problems with others. Just keep it to yourself and just simply don't talk to the person if you do have a problem with them. If you don't feel that you can be in the same area as a person you absolutely hate, be mature and LEAVE.

Thanks
