CRX Targa Top
I did a search and found nothing but if you know of something please direct me there and I will stfu... and please dont tell me Del Sol lol. I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen/heard of this being done to 91 CRX. I know it would take some cash but with that not being an issue are there any kits or anything that you know of for converting a hard top to a ttop?
my buddy did a targa top to his 92 integra but he never quite finished it because he ran into some problems with it and lost interest in doing it so he just welded his roof back on lol! but a crx should be similar to do. what he did was just cut his roof off with a saw zaw right behind the windshield and before the overhead light on the inside of the roof. then he welded thin pieces of metal on either end of the roof cut out and on the car behind the windshield and before the interior light. then he got 2 inch metal tubing that he got bent at a fab shop to fit above the doors connecting the windshield to the *** end of the car jacked the car up in the middle on both sides so that the frame would be bent the right way and not sagging from removing the roof and then welded the pieces of metal tube in the car. and then he couldnt figure out a good way to make a latch to pop on or off so he got all pissed off and through the roof on and welded it shut. lol hope that helps a lil bit!
Ya thats kinda what i had in mind but on the del sols there is no connecting rod from windshild to the back end of the car. i was thinking something like that that coudl probaly cause leakage problems so i dunno. ill have to think some more lol. i could always jsut replace the sun roof with a fiberglass insert or soemthign and call it a day but that woudlnt be much fun :-P.

if you hit anything going over 20 mph in the front, or get rear ended, there will be no chance of suvival for either passenger.
youd have to run a full cage to support the frame, i mean have you ever seen that site that only had crx crash pictures on it, these things are death traps as it is.
if you plan on running a t-top, its going to be expensive if you want it to be safe, i have personally seen 3 full convertable crxs. 2 of them were on cars domain, go there and search for convertable, bc it was in the title.
personaly, i wouldnt do it. just find an si with a roof, and be safer. but if you have the skills, good luck to you.

yea i was planning on installing a roll cage with our with out targa top deal... the roll cage will probally be my first installation even before i go ahead with everything else. i dunno im just throwing alot of ideas around but i will definatly post pics if i ever decide to do it.
by targa do you mean like the del sol? cause when i think of targa I think of the porshe targa which has a full glass roof. there is a CRX full glass roof.
Im talking targa like the del sol. where i can remove the top section from windshiled to rear windshield. yea dangerous i know but no more dangerous than a del sol. lol.

Convertable CRXs were manufactured by Palm Conversions on a contract by Honda in California. 1000 models were modified bought back from Honda and sold in Honda showrooms in California, Arizona, Florida, Texas, and in the Atlanta Region of Georgia. The backs of the CRXs had their logo's changed on the taillights from the normal CRX to CRX-TT, which stands for Transferable Top. Not Twin Turbo like some people seem to like to believe. Anyways now that everyone has read this they are educated and now able to pass this info around when they see another thread like this or when someone asks.

your handling would SUCK. I know a guy who tried it, and it looked pretty stupid. I like the CRX Glass Roof, I'd go that route if you drive the car, if it's just a show car and you can make the targa look good, I think it would be hott. I've seen a couple Preludes w/targa tops, but only 1 CRX. Good Luck
yea prehaps i can just make a fiberglass insert for the glass. im not to much into glass roofs i think they look retarded but maybe i can figure soemthign out. thanks everyon for your help i'll let this thread die now!
