windshield wiper control arm/lever broke.....swappability Q's
'91 lx
the lever that controls the windshield wipers isn't physically broken.
but it jiggles to and fro and offers no resistance when i pull it back towards me to spray the windshield.....won't spray or make any effort to spray (don't hear the motor).
the wipers themselves work fine, i can even pull down on the lever to get that one swipe action.
this sucks with all the salt and road grime and ****, i need fluid!
i have a junked '89 CRX dx with a functioning steering column and lever. can these swap? i've never taken apart a steering column, unlike many shady people i know, and if this is a huge ordeal i'll just go without. thanks!

I had the same problem happen to me...I know it sucks. I believe it should swap over fine but I have a feeling it is going to take some work...(that is why I haven't fixed mine yet

you're right
89 hazards - on top of column
91 hazards - below the cluster
are you saying i can't separate the wiper lever mechanism from the steering column? the whole column must be replaced?

What the heck? Its easy, there is no need to change the column, the headlight/wiper switch is separate from it. The hazard lights have nothing to do with it even if they are in different spots.
Yup, before swapping them, make sure the hazard switch is in the same place on both. After that, it should be really easy.
19mm nut holding on the steering wheel (pry out the "H" plate in the center of the wheel and you'll see the nut).
Two Phillips-head screws holding the combo switch on the steering column.
You'll need to remove a couple trim pieces off the column (phillips screws and a little wire collar around the trim parts nearest the wheel), and unclip a couple electrical connectors from the combo switch.
Easy as pie.

In case anyone cares, the '89 CRX wiper lever works with the '91 LX.
You have to cut off the plug for the rear wiper/washer since the LX doesn't have it.
