Default Just saying hello

Hows it goin. I'm just looking for a place where i could get some tips on modifying my Lude without Ricing it out. I hate ricey bullshit. I love my lude, and am gonna leave her stock looking, but modify the hell out of the engine...but i need to learn how to first. I have a practically stock looking LX, and i love the sleeper attitude. I dont want a fast and the furious type car. Sorry, but i can't stand the obnoxious wings, the overkill loud exhaust, and especially the incorrect badging on cars

I dont know if you guys have noticed this, but i see more and more "TYPE R" cars driving around that arent even close to that. I even saw a F150 with japanese lettering and TYPE R written all over it. Some people just need to be beat down.
I hope to learn alot about preludes here or somewhere else. I just really wanna fix her up. I got my stang hooked up nicelly...it runs mid to upper 12's on drag radials. I would love to see my lude get that low Thanks-

Well, ideally i'd love my Lude to be able to compete with my Stang. I dont think it will ever happen, but itll be fun to try at least. I'm looking at cold air intake systems now for it...

and yes, i can't stand rice. Its the worst thing in the world. I try to destroy as much of it as i can with my Stang...then the Lude eventually.

hell ya did you ever come to the right place, and I agree with Jonesy, first things first, might as well get an AEM CAI, everything he said, plus when or if you get a header and exhaust they all compliment eachother, just don't go buying any brand you can find though...that's what we're here for

and WELCOME

Well, i am checkin out an AEM Cold air Intake at the local import performance place...its about 215 dollars. Is that a good price? And they also had a Greddy Exhaust system for a little over 650.00 and APEX exhaust ranging from 479-600 dollars for different styles. The guy told me if i didnt like those two brands he could order me a different brand. I seriously dont know much at all about exhaust for imports, so i didnt know what to ask for. I think i'm going to get the intake system when i get paid this weekend, then save up for exhaust. Any suggestions on the best performing exhaust for the Lude?

greddy PE or evolution. (same thing pretty much... evolution hides behind the bumper better, but only fits a 5th gen)

i say invest in a simple manual about your car and i4 VTEC equipped engines, then the mods will make 100 times more sense and you will quite possibly be able to do 95% of all modifications yourself
just my .02 cents.............

Now that you've chosen a goal, a mid 12 second car. You need to choose a route. Most people will tell you to get an AEM cold air intake first and it's true that it yields good gains for a relatively cheap price compared to other car mods. But I think you shold hold out on the intake and decide how you want to achieve that 12 second mark. It's either going FI or staying NA. Truth be told, the easier and cheaper way is going FI. People will argue over reliability issues and what not but let's leave that debate for another time. Basically I'm just trying to save you that money you will spend on the intake and then decide later that you want to go FI, then you have to sell the intake and the hassle. By the way, those prices that you found for the intake and exhaust system are too high in my opinion. I believe I have seen better prices. Some people on this board have good contacts for good prices, ask around.

i second everything below. i don't think a mid 12 second N/A streetable prelude with interior is a reasonable goal. however, with a mild build up, standalone, and turbo at around 10psi you should be able to get there and still have a mild mannered daily driver. prepare to spend almost 10 grand.

didn't say 10 grand and not even 12s, said it's not reasonable N/A. with a turbo, 10 grand will get you 12s.
