I believe there are no smog laws in Hawaii. 2000 dollars to ship it? Isn't in the neighborhood of $500 to container a vehicle from Japan to Canada?

no smog laws in Hawaii. Should cost you around 1K for shipping from West Coast to Hawaii. You should call Matson (1-800-4MATSON) or Horizon Lines ( 808-842-1515) for shipping your vehicle to HI. Let me know if you have any questions about shipping to Hawaii; I'm in the freight forwarding business out here in Hawaii, and Matson or Horizon will be the best/cheapest route. Good luck!!!

Hawaii have a safety inspection instead. Like the smog, it's more like a tax by the city.

If you have not found housing near, look under Salt Lake. There are lots of apartments there. Just one warning. Car theif is (was) sort of a problem there. Then again, my news are old. It's been 8 years since I left.
