HELP! Buying an Integra (vibration)
hey guys,
i am potentially gonna buy this one integra. everything is fine on the car, except when you begin to accelerate, theres a distinct vibrate and humming from the passenger side of the car, that gets louder the faster you go. i did not push the car, just normal cruising thru a residential block at no more than 30 mph. it begins in first gear at about 5 mph and increases. the dash is intact, seller swapped out rims and tires to a different set and still had the vibrate/humming. what could it be? its the only thing that is off about the car, otherwise I'd buy it. what do you guys think?

It may be a wheel bearing, though that usually makes noise at higher speeds from what I've heard. Possibly a very warped rotor? How long has it been since the car had an alignment done? I'd say have the owner fix the problem before you buy it so that you're not stuck with trying to figure it out yourself later on.
Yeah, it's most likely a wheel bearing. You need a press to get the bearing out so it's definitely not a DIY job (in case you were thinking of doing it). Have the owner fix it before you buy. Also, I'd have a compression test done on the cyliders just to be on the safe side. If you seller knows you're serious enough about buying it, he'll get the test done for you. Good luck.
I've got a similar wobble but a mechanic told me a tire was out of round. I guess since you swapped wheels/tires this couldn't be your problem so I'd say a wheel bearing also. CV joint would make a much different wobble, I've been there.
it doesnt go away, it just decreases in magnitude. i'll have the wheel bearings replaced and hopefully thats the end of that thanks for everyones help

The swap I got was out of a flipped car and the axel was bent and the diff was bent too. I swapped in a new axle and it reduced the vibration and then I got a Quaife LSD and it was gone.
I replaced a wheel bearing in my wife's GS-R, it didn't vibrate it was loud you could hear it grinding.

Someone told me that you have to buy the whole hub assembly, not just the bearing on our cars. Is this true or with the right tools/expertise could you just replace the bearing by itself?
you can replace the bearing by itself. you just need a press to remove it and install the new one
having this done tomorrow ill let u guys know if it solves the problem
