zc swap in a 91 DX
I got a 91 DX and I found a ZC engine + tranny + ecu deal at nippon-motors.com. What kind of hell or problems can I expect, and do I need the ECU? I know I will have to find new axels but I am mostly concerned about wiring and electrical problems.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
You have to convert to mpfi..
Engine is completly bolt in..
Its one of the most easiest swaps,,even easier if you had an si or hf..
It would be best to use the zc ecu..Since thats the motor it was made for..

You're going to have to get another ECU, be it a ZC or an SI, because since you are DPFI, the ECU only knows how to manage 2 injectors.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong ere.

Yeah you're right..If you want to use the dpfi ecu you would have to use the dpfi manifold and stay dpfi..and that would be dumb with a zc motor..
I know a guy that had a d16z6 running off a dx ecu..I dont know how he did it but it ran like **** ,,had no o2 sensors plugged in and the cel was on all the time..

If I convert the current (stock) setup to mpfi will there be any performance difference? Also you know of any good walkthroughs or writeups on how to do it?
Thanks

I do actually know someone who did it, and its a decent performance gain. If you put in the SI intake manifold, etc, then you basically have a 1.5L SI engine. For the most part, the D series shares the same head and block with itself with exceptions such as intake manifolds and injection. This is especially true on the standard hatchback motor and the dx motor, compared to the SI motor.

Thanks for the info.
One more question, I just started searching for parts to go to MPFI. As far as the ecu goes. Should I get the PM6 si ecu? or would it be bad to get a PM6 off an integra?

the teg uses a pm7 ecu, if you can find it, get a pg7 ecu, which is the zc ecu if im not mistaken. You also stated in yuor first post that your getting the ecu with the swap, so if thats true, then u need not worry.
Also, follow fourthgenhatch's write-up on his website. Its the best DPFI>MPFI swap site out there.
