Default Quick question, overheating.......

Correct me if Im wrong, but when a thermostat goes bad (stuck closed), the radiator fan will NOT come on, correct? This si on my d15b if theres any confusion. I only ask because before I changed the motor, the fan worked fine, and I have a brand new thermostat, but the upper hose is hot and the lower stays cold.

bad thermostat. Make sure you're using a honda thermostat. Other ones just don't seem to work as well.

Make sure that there is no air in your system too b/c that would cause the coolant to not circulate. Happened to my friend's accord.

This is stuff I know, but what I am asking is will a thermostat that is stuck closed not allow the thermo switch to detect engine temp and therefor turn the fan on. My problem is that the fan isnt kicking on, and I wanted to know if the bad thermostat could be the culprit.

oops sorry didn't carefully read your post.

yes the fan temp kick switch is at the bottom of the rad (if i remember correctly). Thus if not hot coolant is circulating in the rad then the fan switch will never trip the cooling fan to come on.

Cheers

Problem fixed, there was just some air in the system, works fine now.
