Default pm6 ecu rev limit

what is the rev limit on a stock pm6 ecu? mine rev limits at 7800 rpm and my friends exact same set up in his hatch only goes to 6800 rpm. we even switched ecu s in our cars and his still only revved to 6800. we also tried switching distributors with no different results. anyone have any ideas? thanks

7200rpm when warm
6800rpm when cold

The stock tach is off by about 300-500rpm..

the rev limit is 6800 in my crx wen cold and 7800 wen warm consistantly. in his hatch on more than one aftermarket tac his consistantly only hits 6800 warm or cold. why is this.

The cutoff is allegedly at 195°F where the rev limit raises from 6800 to 7200.

Maybe the problem is related to the thermostat.

Where did you get the 195 degrees F?

The 91 pm6 has a slightly higher hot limit of about 7500-7600
only 91 though.

My stock PM6 has no REV limit. It has never worked. I have run it up to 8000 and still did not did fuel cutoff. My chipped PM6 with TurboEdit works fine .

My 88 SI only revs to 6500 warm or cold. it has the D16Y8 engine in it, and v-tec is activiated by a msd ignition switch. but i don't know why it only revs to 6500. maybe in 88 it would only rev to that? and then in later years it was raised?

i was just thinking of getting a PG7 ECU and have it rev to 7500. what do you think?

TurboEdit, progStudio, hexed are my drugs of choice when modifing the pm6 box.

ricekiller: yes, 88 is special in that it has a lower redline. others have 6800 redline and 7100 cut stock.

Is that true? Becuase if it is, I'm going to get one. I have never heard of that.
