HELP!!! HOw did u cut your AEM CAI???????
I am in the process of installing my AEM CAI and didnt realize how much you have to cut the hole. What did u guys use to cut it? And how hard was it?
I didn't know you had to cut a hole..but i work at a hardware store, and you should use a hole saw. it fits on a drill, and costs about $4.
cut 7-10mm slits 1 1/4" apart around the fender side of the hole. Then bend them down and out or just hack them off. I just bent them flush underneath and filed the edge smooth. The rubber part of the filter fits in the hole so it keeps it snug w/o rattles. Very ghetto tho, not happy w/ the fit.
My bolt point wasn't even close to the hole... still not bolted in but the filter in the hole keeps it solid.

Man i used the hole saw......i thought AEM was the best money could buy...then why the hell doesnt the damn thing fit. The support bracket was nowhere close and I couldnt get it to fit. My install job is pretty ghetto but at least it sounds good. I'll wait till tommorow to see if theyre any HP gains.
Dont worry too much about the mounting bolt, I have had my AEM CAI on for over a year with no problems whatsoever-- I cut and curled the metal under- sprayed on some rustproofing material and used split rubber hoses to circle the hole. It makes it very sturdy and works great.
the sheet metal is soft. just grab it from underneith with a pair of strong pliers and bend it downward on the side.. no cutting needed.
