first off, nice to see a suspension section on HT. and now that we have one i have a couple questions about the suspension setup for my 99 hatch or EK, whichever u wanna call it.
i'm gonna run a rear sway bar on my EK and i'm sure u people have heard about the weak subframe on the EK. for that problem most use the beaks kit, which people have still torn the subframe with that product also. so heres the questions.......
*if i use a stiffer rear spring on my GC/koni setup with the rear sway and beaks kit, that would help to take all the stress off the subframe, right?
*i was gonna run the skunk2 rear sway, but was thinkin about the SRR style sway/tie bar combo kit(cant afford the comptech), anyone used the SRR combo??
*like i said i have the GC coilovers with the koni yellows and koni specific sleeves. the rates that came with it are 340f/250r, i was gonna run the 340 on the rear and upgrade the fronts to around 400-450, anyone runnin around the same rates? keep in mind that i dont intend on autoX but its also not my daily driver
and lastly, i'm doin the legend brake upgrade on my EK, and the search function seems to not let me see the archives, so does anyone know which spindles i need to run? i "heard" that i'd need the 99-00 si ones but someone also said the DC teg front spindles are the same, any truth to that??
sorry to ask sooooooo many questions, but i didnt want to make 3 or 4 different posts. any help or helpful comments will be greatly appreciated!!!!
THANX!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think having stiffer rear springs is going to take stress off of your ITR 22mm sway bar ( i could be wrong )
i would just get the SSR kit or save up a little longer for the comptech. my friend got it on his Si, says he LOVES it

Do NOT get the SRR 'kit'. You dont need aftermarket LCA's (OEM is fine) and the swaybar they sell is a pretty shitty design. Get OEM rear swaybar - its cheap, and it works and it fits right.

The setup on my ek is teh Skunk2 Pro Series Coilovers (definately work better than GC/Koni setup and close to the same price) and a Progress rear bar. The progress bar has been on my car for almost 2 years and hasn't hurt the subframe. I've had a few different ones on the car and the Progress is my favorite. Talk to Lightning on the board, he has worked me out a wonderful deal on all of the stuff I have purchased.

ok so i was correct about the stiffer rear springs will take stress off the subframe, i was finally right about somethin!!! lol and i'd never waste money on aftermarket LCA's, unless my bushings crapped out,
kid1320 told me he likes his SRR and has used it for over a year but since i already have the skunk2 rear sway bar and beaks kit here, do u think that with the 380lbs springs in the rear with the sway i could avoid subframe damage?
thanx for the imput guys!! anyone else wanna help?

Why do you want/need a swaybar then? What handling characteristics are you trying to achieve? Do you plan to install a front sway (you'll need EX/SI frt LCAs) too?
While RJ is a lot more versed in this area than me, it is my understanding that your spring rates dictate the majority of your handling characteristics (with damper function obviously) and that sways are used to fine tune those characteristics. If you are in the process of upgrading your current spring rates, how do you know you'll need a 22mm bar to get the traits you want?
Since you have no front swaybar in OE trim on an EK, why not just run a 19mm OE SI bar in the rear? You won't run the risk of a subframe tear with this set-up and probably get the desired handling traits you want.
Internet "hear-say" I've read states that a full subframe brace (Comptech/A-Spec) should be used with a 22+ mm rear sway if rear rates are lower than 500 lbs. Take that for what it is worth.
PS: You do need a '99-00 SI or '94+ Teg knuckle for a Legend caliper swap. You can also get a FastBrakes kit that includes a larger rotor and spacer to use your current knuckle. The caliper will still need some spacing as will the rotor.

i just want the car to handle real well. and yea i got the front sway and LCAs off a 99 EX. i had a suspension techniques front sway but i figured it was too big and would add oversteer, the only reason i was gonna run the skunk2 rear and beaks kit is because i've had it sittin here for months and i didnt pay alot for it.
**i just found out yesterday that i could use the teg spindles, and a 3mm spacer is needed behind the rotor for the right clearance. i talked to the guy at fastbrakes before Xmas about those rotors and he gave me a great price, too bad i was broke then.
so it sounds like i'll be safe with the setup, GC's with 400f/350r, koni yellows, and skunk2 rear sway and beaks kit. the skunk bar is actually kinda small so i probably didnt have to worry about it anyways
thanx for the help guys, if u have anymore comments post up f00ls!! lol
