I'm buying some used Tein SS for my '02 from someone who has an '04. Looking at the installation directions (http://tein.com/ti/inst/ka22u.pdf), it appears that he may use a different upper spring seat. If you go to the bottom of the instructions to the assembly pic of the front, it says to use the gold upper spring seat for older models. I changed my springs over a year ago but I believe my spring mount/bearing setup resembles the "Before Aug/2003" setup. Hopefully the previous owner kept the unused parts. Keep in mind that these instructions are for EM Civics. So if anyone who has Basics or SS, can you please post the year of your car and the color of the upper spring seat used.

 

I have Tein Basic and the shop used the gold plates.

Thanks Jaypee, I got the coilovers today and they came with gold upper seats. I have another issue though. According the instructions from tein for the rears, (from bottom to top) there should be a bumpstop ->washer (oem) -> collar -> washer (oem). The problem is that I only see one washer from the oem (#2) setup .

It seems the previous owner did not use a washer between the bumpstop and collar so the collar was press into the bumpstop. I pressed it back out for now. Here is a pic I found for reference: . Is that washer between the bumpstop and collar supposed to be supplied by tein?
