Alpine HU time correction.. Integra
i do not understand how to use the time correction controls in my alpine 7995 HU. I have the manual and i don't get wtf it's talking about. can someone put it in lamen's terms. i want to adjust it so that the listening position would be betweet the front two seats of my acura integra 2-DR. anyone happen to use this function with their integra???
I initially set the time delay on my 9835 "by the numbers." Since then, I have found that doing it by ear is easier and better...
Find a good recording with a clear "center image." By that I mean a song that when listening to a two speaker (L and R) home system, the vocals appear to come from a point midway between the two speakers. Listen to this song while changing the time delay. You will come across a setting which will make the vocals come from somewhere in the middle of the dash.

I don't care for time correction. In my experiences it destroyed my midbass, but maybe it's just my set up.
Does Alpine still have i-Personalize? Is your HU compatiable?

Check that out on Alpines site. You need to take a few measurements, but it will do the math for you.

the 7995 isn't I-personalize compatible. time correction is fine if its jsut you in the car but keep in mind that for the passenger the settings should be almost the exact opposite. so by making one seat sound better, the other one will sound worse.

yea, after sitting down and thinking about that last night i realized that. but the thing is, what if i were to focus it tso that the sound is centered directly in the middle of the two front seats? isn't this a good way to have it sound for ALL passengers of the car? doesn't this mean that the waves meet in the middle? another thing, can't this be done without the time correctino? by precisely aiming the tweeters at the middle of the car??

Basically if you set up the time alignment correctly, the only seat in the car that the staging and imaging will be "perfect" will be from the drivers seat, but if you have multiple time corr. presets (like my CDA-7969) you can correctly time align both front seats. More or less what you need to do is get a tape measure and measure the distance from each TWEETER to the drivers head. The reason its TWEETERS and not MIDS is because the tweets have a much harsher and more direct path to you, from there apply those individule measurements to alpines figures that can be found on their website, I got my manual from there and it has a very through explanation. If you need more help let me know and I can give you the formulas.

well with no time alignment the speakers will be focused in the center of the car so the only time alignment you really could play with would be front-rear. if you want better sound quality and a more focused center image, try building a set of kick panels. by mounting the drivers low you'll help to equalize the path length difference between left and right minimizing the need for time alignment. you should also at a minimum disconnect the tweeters on the rears but i still recommend removing them completely.

what if the mid is door mounted and the tweeter is in the A pillar? i would prefer to use the midrange driver for the time alignment because thats where the majority of the critical frequencies come from.
