Default estimated hp with zc swap

hey guys,

alright well heres a quick summary of what happened so far. the timing belt to my d16a6 engine snaped while going down the freeway. out of missary and just being pissed, i kept attempting to start it not knowing that with every turn of the key i was jamming the pistons into the valves while the valves were up/down in doing so i think if not 100% sure the valves are bent. im planning to fix the bent rods and anything else that went south just because i have no choise.

at first i was planning to do a b20b block swap with a gsr head with itr pistons/rods/cams etc. with a b16 tranny for shorter distance. but with all the unnessary purchases that recently occured that swap is out of the picture. the zc swap would be much much cheaper then my first intended swap but my question is that will i be able to make the same hp with the zc.

im still sticking with the same plan of making whatever proformance engine i get into an all motor 200+ hp engine. will it be possible to make 200+ with a zc? if so what do i have to do to the engine to make that possible. your imput will be really usefull.

oh yeah the whole b20/gsr swap would of cost me around 1200+ but theres a shop near by (nippon motors inc. in cerritos, ca) selling full engine only zc's for a little under 600 which would give me more money to invest into the engine

boost or spray for 200+hp, ZC is good for a DIY home made turbo kit.

B18C is somewhere around 195hp, and around $3000 :D. ZC rocks, but I would say go with a GSR or a B20/VTEC or something if you're going for 200hp all motor without doing too much work.

Also, most of the time (if not everytime) if you snap a timing belt, the valves are bent.... Good yob :D

If you are wanting to build a NA ZC, start with some good cams (Exospeed makes some good cams for the ZC), some cam gears (JUN and I think HKS make cam gears for the ZC), port and polish, I/H/E, and maybe a chipped PM6 and you'd be up there pretty nicely.

I have a dohc zc in my 90 si hatch and layed down 119hp & 102 lb/ft of torque with just an ebay CAI, ebay cheapo 4-1 header and a drag rpt chip from hyperduck tuning. This motor has close to 200k on it and burns a quart of oil every 1500 miles. These motors can reach 140-150hp n/a with the right set of cams and a little porting in the cylinder head, but once again you will have a very low torque figure being a 1.6. Just my $0.02. There is a good article on the zc resource about milling the head and decking the block to get around 11.5:1 with the stock internals.

The zc rods are very thin..

The strongest d-series rods are from a d16a1..
