Tire restorer? Is there really such a thing?
I remember hearing a few people talk about some magical spray or something that you put onto your tires and brings em out of a beat up shape. My hoosiers have been sitting in the garage all winter(not bagged) and it hasnt been extremely cold around here. Is it worth my time to look into this product or should my tires be ok? Thanks
Its called formula V traction compound.....
does it work? yes... will it make the tires perform as new? no. I think it was GRM that did an article on these, and found that initially the treated tires were faster than the untreated tires, but as the tires warmed up on the track and the marbles were scrubbed off, the difference was made smaller. For autocross, i'm sure its worth it.
I've heard caution as far as using it - its just nasty stuff. i.e. only use it outside, and wear clothes that you plan on throwing away once you're done treating the tires (because they will stink like the stuff forever). Paint rollers work well, and you should bag the tires up once you're done treating them.
