Default turbo accord f22

Im new to some of the turbo stuff, and i was wanting to gain more power for the dollar, so i was thinking about a turbo for my 95 accord. The only thing is that i have an automatic tranny. Would it kill my tranny or not. I am not looking to get a high amount of boost, but enough (any recommendations welcome). I wasnt thinking the whole setup, but just the needed parts because i dont need an intercooler but it helps right. THanks

Why do you want to boost your engine? Will you be racing or is it just a daily driver. If it's your daily driver you'll want to keep the boost reasonable, like 5-7 psi unless you strengthen your engine internals. My friends that run turbos use intercoolers on their rides, but keep in mind intercoolers aren't cheap. If you can afford it get it; should give you some extra power and keep the temps just right. Good luck.

Running boost with an auto shouldn't be a problem just take your car to a good tuner shop to optimize your shift points. its just a little extra power b/c its heavy and its a daily driver. I have seen cars without the intercooler that are fine. So yeah 5-7 psi is all, im just wondering if it would tear up my transmission or not

Over time, I'm sure it would ruin your transmission not to mention probably your axles. Remember the stock Accord's tranny is designed for a 150 hp engine, so are the axles. If you boost your hp it will wear down the tranny/axles eventually. I had an H22 in my Accord and my front axle was always going on me.

auto trannies are very unreliable. They are already failure prone as is, a bit of added power to them and it's liable to go very quickly. I've heard tranny coolers stretch the life or a auto turbo'd for a little bit, but not for long.

your best be is going with a manual swap. If you're doing a manual swap, you mine as well just do a full H22a with manual tranny.

Yeah they say Honda auto tranny's aren't the best - many people experience problems with stock power levels. So add some boost and it makes the already weak tranny even worse!

I'd do a 5-speed swap if I were you, you should be able to pick up a decent condition 5-speed tranny for pretty cheap and the parts you need (try a junkyard for the swap parts). The F22 is a stronger engine then most people think - it can handle moderate boost pretty well with stock internals. How many miles are on it anyway?

About the intercooler, I'd go for it. The turbo heats up the intake air quite a bit, and you certainly don't want hot air going into your engine. Colder air is much more dense then hotter air, so it's "packed in" better, which means even more power. Plus keeping the combustion temps lower helps with reliability. Just do it the right way the first time and you'll be happy. Good luck with the project!

Let me start by saying.........if ur gonna do it.. do it right the first time. I went thru it all, i first boosted my 95 auto accord with stock internals for about 6 months and the auto tranny took a crap even tho i had a tranny cooler. I boosted anywhere from 5 to 12 psi with a t3. I eventually had to do a tranny swap and it was like night and day. Get rid of the auto asap!

it it was a 6th gen, it might not just have seizures, it might actually sieze up after 2nd gear gets realllllly thirsty

hondas auto trannies are not all shitty....just the 6th gens had a serious common problem.....honda auto trannies were built with limitations close to the stocker power settings because that allowed them to be built cheaper and easier by not needing excessive parts that can stand up to that kinda power.....manual trannies are by nature, more durable and can take more of a beating.....just swap in a f22b manual tranny and your fine
