The guy primered the car with a red primer that looks like it came out of a spray can... Is using spray can primer a bad thing compared to the primer that you buy and spray with a gun?

Another thing is the guy claims that theres a ticking noise coming from the engine. After driving for about 20 minutes the car will shut itself off. It's a d16y8 under the hood. Anyway he told me that some people said it was a rod bearing. Just wondering if you guys could confirm or give other possible causes?

 

well you wont be able to have the car painted over that primer. youll have to primer over it and see if it works or sand it off.. rattle can primer doesnt work well with normal paints

 

primer is fairly easy to sand off right?

 

Yeah just sand off the primer till the factory primer comes out. Then you can start prepping it. just wetsand using 100 or 120 grit. Better if you have a power sander. Will take you an hour or 2 to do the whole car.
