4ws or ATTS on a 4th gen vtec?
Did some searching, had no luck.
I was sitting here wondering... has anybody ever swapped 5th gen ATTS system onto a fourth gen vtec??
Or
4ws on a vtec?

no way. You would need
- entire SH subframe
- radius rods
- double ball joint knuckles
- all the sensors
- ATTS computer
- wiring etc etc
- custom fab intermediate shaft backet
- run atts lines
- I'm sure there is much more
On the 4ws side of things...there already is a 4th gen 4ws, it was in JDM VTEC models already, and it's not related to the engine at all, people with USDM Si-4ws models have swapped H22a in them with no problems

I never really looked closely at the subframes but from what I remember they look the same (maybe just mounting points for the steering rack?). Power steering rack is supposebly defferent too. But I know that I swapped base rack in to SH subframe a while back. I think SH tie rods are shorter though. Thanks for completing the list.
Sorry to use your thread, but I had this question for a while maybe satan_srv you know? I was told that SH has a different differential? Can Quife for regular M2*4 tranny be used for an SH transmission. Is the housing really different? I sold the one I wanted to use, but just in case I see another Prelude SH at the auction, it's good to know. I know every one says "no" but they probably think it'd be used in conjunction with ATTS. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: It's the other way around about the tie rods, SH rods are longer.

yes SH tie rods are longer because they go all the way out to the lower ball joint, that's why there are 2 of them.
ATTS is an eletronically controlled differential...you can't swap it. ATTS is like an electronic LSD. does up to 70/30 torque split (correct me if I am wrong) if necessary

In thought it was clear. You can't remove the ATTS differential from an SH tranny.

Hmm, see, I don't know exactly what I would have to swap 4ws onto my vtec, (I'm still reading
). I simply figured that it would be less labor than dropping my engine into a 4ws chasis.
Something else that just hit me. The ECU. To my knowledge the JDM vtec Preludes had 4ws as well (as Satan also mentioned above). I'm assuming vtec 4ws drivers use the JDM ecu? I'm really looking into having 4ws for my car... and getting it in the most efficient manner. w00t.
**EDIT: I've just read that I would need the JDM ECU. Clarification would still be nice.

It's stupendous.
Yeah, I could feel a pretty significant difference in quick cornering. I think it would be pretty ****** rad for auto-x'ng.

I have a 4ws vtec
, but like the method mentioned above - I dropped a JDM h22, into a 92 SI that already had 4ws. Adding 4ws to a non-4ws would be quite labourous I would think.
I really like the 4ws, but more so in parking lot/u turn (heh heh) type situations than faster driving. For a while it was cumbersome because it was intermittent until I came across Wstef's solution. now it's all good. It will also add quite a bit of weight to your car. the computer alone is a monster.
also, I can't really clarify your jdm/usdm p13 question because i'm not sure - but i can tell you that my p13 has the markings "2w" on the side (some ecu's have 4w on the side)- and it doesn't affect my 4ws ability at all.

Yup, as I stated, for "quick cornering."
I simply don't have the $$$ to drop my h22 into another shell...
Oh well... we'll see what goes.
