it depends on the car weight,driver skill,air temp,tire condition,clutch condtion,elevation,ecu,traction,lounch rpm,shift speed.
yea so anywere between 11.78 and 17.866

A poor man's type-R would be more like:
B18c1
Skunk2 Type-R intake manifold
Type R cams+valve springs
ITR pistons(I think CTR has moer compression)
ITR computer (not sure if this one works)
B18c1

Does a GSR head and B16 head have the same power as a type R? I thought poor man's type R meant making type R power with different engine combos
I know a B16 head FLOWS better, but are there really any HP gains? And don't answer unless you have experience....more flow is'nt always more HP

B16 and ITR heads are the same. The valves, cams, springs, etc are different. A GSR head is different in a number of ways.

That is true, the intake cam for the last years of the USDM ITR are the same as the JDM CTR.

I just finished putting together my version of a poor mans R
B18c1 block
B16a Head/Valvetrain
ITR intake mani
ITR thottle body
GSR tranny
DC header
AEM cai
Hi-Flow cat
Tanabe g-Madallion
Im going to be putting it in this week....Ill post in here how it runs and works out
(damn i cant wait, VTEC again
)
EDIT: I think of a poor mans R is simply a B18c1 Block with a B16 head....
Because of the 1.8l block with the b16's head similarities(sp) to an R head
supposidly the differences are the cams, V springs/retainers (titanium) and a mild port to the R head

Im not sure, I hope ALOT
My boy had a stock type r and when i had a b16 block (with everything else the same as i posted b4) i ran dead even with him 2/3 times and slightly pulled 1/3 times
My car was quick at topend and felt like my d16 at the bottom,so im hoping to gain the torqyness (word?) of the b18c1

swapping the head is not going to do anything for you in this case. the stock gsr and b16 heads flow so similarly, that the difference is negligible.
what will happen is you will lose some power b/c the b16 head will drop your compression some due to the difference in combustion chamber volumes.
unless you plan on getting the b16 head ported enough to overcome the loss of power due to the drop in compression, or putting higher compression pistons in the block, your better off just keeping the gsr motor as is and modding it.
also the ctr cams are the same as the later year usdm itr cams, all though the difference to the earlier usdm itr cams is not all that much and dosent give you much increase in power at all.
if you want to make the most power as cheaply as possible, you would be better off putting some itr or ctr cams in the gsr, put a skunk 2 or similar style intake manifold on it, run whatever intake and a header with a 2.5" collector (like the jdm dc 4-1) and 2.5" exhaust (whatever you prefer on this one, although there arent that many choices out there). get this tuned properly and you will be all set.

I didnt have a gsr i had a b16a with all the itr **** on it and the gsr tranny+ all i lsted above. I had a little mishap with my block during a timing belt change. so i bought a gsr block and swapped it with my b16 block (along with $800 in new parts/gaskets/orings from Acura )
Im also possibly adding GSR cams to the package ,pickin em up tonight but not sure if im gonna use em yet

I'm currently building my poor mans type R well kinda, it's a mix of alot of parts.
ITR head
CTR cams
Aebs intake manifold
JG throttle body
thin cometic head gasket
Hondata intake manifold gasket
AC fuel rail
AEM fpr
Intake
custom 2.5" exhaust
ACT 6 puck clutch
ACT flywheel
B&m short shifter
Car is pretty fast already, but hey I want more hahahahaa

No you won't.
No you won't.
so can someone post up a price list of a poormans ITR setup?
so we can compare it to buying a b18c5 swap?
my friend happens to think the ITR is just SOOOooOOOooOOo amazing,
I think it does put down some damn good power,
but for the price it is a bit of a hypeR
would like to see some hard numbers though.
Also why don't people use an ITR intake mani more often?
they're only 200bux from hmotorsonline, thats cheaper than skunk2
