horn not working.. and SRS light is on
yes.. i did a search. I just need to confirm. When i press my horn, nothing happens, no clicks or anything. is it safe to assume that its the relay? and if so, where can i get one? autozone? thanks
Hey, my horn also doesn't work and my SRS light is on, too. It's a '92 Si, and the car was this way when I bought it. If you find a connection, let me know. Getting this fixed is next on my to-do list.
Cable reel in steering column is dead. Guaranteed. It needs to be replaced.
I'll do a search and show you the topic confirming it.
Bah, cant find the topic I was looking for, but just do a search for "horn srs light" or "reel srs light", something to that effect and you'll find what you seek!

If you recently removed your steering wheel or column then chances are the reel was not properly reinstalled....
This happend on my civic when i changed the power steering rack, i lost my
horn & cruise and the SRS came on, i removed the wheel and fixed the cable reel and im Good

i would look for one at a junkyard that WASNT in a front end accident where the bags deployed

funny thing u mentioned that.. i just replaced my steering rack.. but that has nothing to do with the cable reel? i didnt even remove my steering wheel. How can changing the rack affec the cable reeL?

It has EVERYTHING to do with the reel, when you removed your steering column from the rack your steering wheel was free to spin as many times as you let it...
you have to make sure the wheel does not spin and goes back on the EXACT place it came off......ths was my mistake too

ahh... so my reel isn't broken, just misaligned? when you removed your steering wheel.. how did you "fix it". did you replace it, or just fix the existing one? do you have aim?

There is still a chance that its broken....It is hard to explain but the reel works the same way as the wheel...It has its center point and turns 1 1/2 times to the left of center & 1 1/2 times right of center
if it was not put on correct theres a chance you couldve broken the cable wire in the reel
i lucked out and tried fixin the one i had (wich worked) and kept a new one on hand just incase
it is not an easy task though, i work at an acura dealer and i had to get some assistance from the shop foreman

i'm not sure how a cable reel works, but if my horn and cruise control isnt working, wouldnt it be just a broken wire? from spinning my steering wheel too much. cna't i just solder them back together and good as new? or is there something more to it than that. thanks

by installing the rack that is not centered eventhough you did not touch the steering wheel means the wheels would have been offcentered when you had everything installed. if the steering wheel was centered when you put everything back together, you would have to turn the steering wheel to get the tires pointing back to the front. now, you've just used up some of the allowable rotation from the steering wheel. lets say you had to turn the steering wheel to the left one full turn to center the wheels, but the steering wheel is only allowed to turn 1 1/2 turns. when you try to make a left again to make a u-turn, you'll turn the steering wheel 1/2 turn but it's not enough for a u-turn. you turn the steering wheel some more to make the turn and snapped the cable wires inside the cable reel. makes sense?
and no, you can't really just solder it...
it's not hard to replace it. took me about 40 minutes on my first time doing it and i was REAL cautious doing it.
