Default My EG project: the good, the bad, and the nightmare

First off, I bought the car from Evil DOHC, who disclosed everything fairly about the car. Here's a pic of what it looks like 95 CX and white (a few dings on it though )

Anyway, some of you may remem my ongoing headgasket problem from this thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1099315 .

I did get a chance to install my prospec exhaust. Very nice piece... lighter than any other stainless exhaust I've picked up. Sounds awesome, only complaint is the bolts are a tad bit short. Other than that its great. Pics are below...

Also installed my skunk2 short shifter and ES bushings (love this thing), pics are below...

Lastly, I did some JDM lighting on the climate control when I swapped my dash. Special thanks to Bauley for the DIY tutorial. I used a bright orange I got from home depot for the lights.

Thoughts/comments would be appreciated. This is the first car I've ever started seriously working on, so I'm sure there will be plenty of screw ups on the way!

You must be blind; that thing has more waves than the ocean

Dents add character though, I'd leave them. My CRX is starting to run out of straight metal to put more dents on

at least you haven't had rust problems. rust is the worst nightmere on 92-95

I picked it up for $3k which is what seems to be the going price for stock, clean white EGs in the NJ/NYC area .

Picked up the exhaust from the sponsor section... Jimmy has them for $400 shipped. Couldnt pass it up so I sold my invidia for it. There is no rust, and maybe some pin marks of where it could start to form but I'm all over that.

No problems since the headgasket was replaced.

Well the car is at my parents garage... I plan to buy a house and settle around June, so untilI have a garage of my own, I'm not doing anymore obvious work.

I actually have ITR swaybars, ITR front and rear LCAs and Zeal B6 coilovers, JDM headlights and vision corners sitting in my room. I hooked up some security features to the car but am still worried about it being on the street until then. EDIT: For you lisence plate number runners, in the one picture where you can see the number, the plate is off of my cousins old lexus that he sold back in 1999.

One other question, anyone know a good shop to get my head resurfaced in south Jersey? Can any machine shop do this (should I just go through the phone book)?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Any machine shop that has been in businees for a long while should do fine, I had mine surfaced here in TN at Headworks of Nashville, and they have been in business like 15 years I think, just make sure to go with a metal headgasket, I used that crappy felpro one for a d15b7, and that was the worst mistake of my life, but you got a steal on that hatch, nice!!

Lookin good -

Your hatch looks pretty much stock when you got it which is a good thing. That means no one messed with anything and there would be less of a chance of more problems. Pretty cool - Good buy

Thanks, I'm going to look into finding a decent machine shop either today or tomorrow.

I'd say it has tech enough to stay.

Anyways head gasket eh?

Get the 96-00 D16Y8 metal head gasket. It's cheap, seals better, and lasts longer than **** fiber gaskets.

Also resurfacing the head is a must, but you might want to have it pressure checked too. If it has a small crack that you cannot see then all of this time and money will have been wasted.

Thanks, I actually put the b8 headgasket on there after I towed the car home. I automatically assumed the head was warped and I'm taking it all apart to get resurfaced. I will have it pressure tested also, thanks for the tip

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm sure there will be plenty of tech questions to come as this is my first major project short of my old car that only had intake/exhaust and an alpine cd player.
