Default 91 SI tranny in a 89 CRX DX

I have an 89 CRX DX 5spd, and I have a tranny out of a 91 CRX SI. I want to out the SI tranny in my car. I was told to get SI clutch kit and I be fine. Well the clutch plate and pressure plate for the 91 is larger than the 89. What clutch + flywheel would fit that set up? the 89 dx clutch and flywheel +SI tranny? or the 91 SI clutch and flywheel +91 tranny?

Match the clutch to the transmission. 91 SI Tansmission should use the 91 SI pressure plate and clutch disk (same number of splines in disk and input shaft of the transmission). It (the disk) is bigger but the flywheel can accomodat the larger clutch disk as the pressure plate outer dimensions are the same. Be sure to have the flywheel machined and remove clean and lubricate the piviot shaft for the release bearing in the bell housing of the transmission. These simple and easy steps will insure good results from the clutch for a long time to come!

use the 89 flywheel and clutch with the 91 Si transmission if your clutch is o.k. and you don't want to purchase a new one - 90-91 clutch will not fit 89 flywheel, as the bolt circle diameter for mounting the pressure plate is larger on the 90-91 than the bolt circle on the 89 flywheel - if you want larger 90-91 clutch, you will need 90-91 flywheel

Yea I have an Exedy stage 1 clutch kit for a 90-91 SI. It was too big for the 89 DX flywheel. So if I get a flywheel for the 1.6 SI I should be set?

So the bell housing for the SI tranny should mate up to the engine no problem? Can I use the starter from the DX in the SI tranny? With the SI flywheel it should all line up?

from what I understand all starters are the same. only diffrence is the PP mounting points on the flywheel. in 89 there closer together, 91 there farther apart. so technicly all flywheels are the same size in diameter.
