Default Couple of new pictures of our 2004 NFR and a question...

Well on another website they were setting up a calendar for 2005 and i took an evening and did a photo shoot (nothing incredible but some nice pics) so i figured i'd share them and also ask a question (2 birds, one stone kind of thing)...

The question is this...we recently had our oil changed from the stock stuff to RedLine, and i havent noticed anything different (and didnt think i would) after doing this change, but i did notice that it does produce a funny smell again (similar to what it did when it was brand new) after running it hard up to 7500k a few times driving around, i took it out to wash it today because its been so beautiful here and just noticed that smell was back again...i had thought that it was just stuff burning off when it was new, but now, i dont know what to think about it...the oil change was done by a reputable friend and i know that nothing was spilled on the parts on the car...that and since the oil change, its been driven atleast 150miles...

Any ideas?

Heres the pics...(and yes...YOU NEED SPRINGS! I know, i know...we havent decided whether we are going to start modding this car like that yet, it was a plan, but we may just keep as is, since i love it just as it sits, and buy a cheap little project civic again or something)

Thanks folks.

He probably did just spill some oil on some parts. Its very difficult to get the filter off cars without spilling some oil.

personally I would only use coilovers on cars that needed corner weighting or a significant change in weight distribution

coilovers would be an upgrade from stock, improving handling (assuming you don't buy $500 coilovers)

well, I've read on http://www.s2ki.com that your supposed to break the engine in with the stock oil that comes with the car. Its a special oil that they put in to help break in the engine. Here's a post that will help you out. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/ind...3&hl=

The car was very well broken in with the stock oil...we drove it 5K miles then had it changed at Honda, then recently, after 2500 miles or so (i cant remember exactly) we had the redline oil change...the cost we get a discount on because a buddy of mine works at the store (which would make hte Mobil 1 even cheaper but i dont mind really, assuming that the Redline stuff is the best you can get for the engine, that is what i was told by a few people anyways)...but yeah, not sure what the smell is all about, im going to take it out a few evenings this week and see if its still doing it, if so, i may bring it in to honda so they can take a look at it just for my own knowledge that it was "once overed" and not just ignored ya know.

That NFR with the hardtop is sex.

Well, you already know what I'm going to say about your ride....

but, thats only because its YOUR (hypnosisracing) S2k.

Otherwise, It really depends on what the smell is like. If it smells like burning plactic, you might have something rubbing. If it smells like oil, maybe they didn't tight the stop tight enough. Probrably something totally random though. Take it to honda, and let them deal with it. Warrenties are great!!

I will...i went at the wrong time to take pictures, had about 10min. to take them before security was asking me what i was doing at the building, but had i waited a little longer they would have been gone, so im just gonna wait next time and get some better setup pictures...some with a little more time spent on position and stuff. Kind of hard setting up a tri-pod when a guy is sitting there like "Hurry it up, cant have your car sitting there like that..."

I could do it if they'd let me, its a big open area inside with a fountain and stuff, and those doors are the electric ones so they open real big if you swing them out...
