Default 6th Gen Suspicious Noise

Car is a 1999 Accord V6, no mods.

I just started hearing a humming/whinning sound from the engine that is most noticable when driving under 35 mph. In addition, the pitch changes when I accelerate/decelerate. The car otherwise runs normally.

I know that the transmissions for the 98-99 Accords tend to fail--might this sound be an indication? No CEL appears.

Thanks in advance.

True dat. that sound is the sound of your axle going bad. may have to replace it. check the boot see if theres a tear. if there is, repair it as soon as possible, because dirt and ish will get on the ball bearings and you dont want to shell out the cash to replace that AND the axle.

all this is a possibility, i could be wrong

I think it might be a bearing in your alternator going bad. I think that's whats going o my 99 did that. Have somebody listen and slowly rev your engine, if it sounds like its coming from the belt I bet that's whats it is. Good luck

That's my guess too.
