Default Skipping gears?

I have a 91 LX automatic...ever since i've had the car, there is always a small jolt when the car leaves 1st gear i believe (around 25-30mph) It takes about 1/2 a second to hit second. How could i fix this problem...i tried searching, but i couldnt find anything. The car is stock and i've never done any engine, body, etc. work on it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

First thing I would do is check your AT fluid level AND color. If it is maroon I would replace/flush it.
