zc transmission?
i have a d16z6 and my 90 si tranny is kinda tired i want to rebuild it with lsd and i am having problems with the cost what is the cheepest way to get a tranny into my 90 hatch that has lsd. i thought aout the lsd zc tranny but i hear is doesn't work? what should i do?
If you've got a '90 Si tranny on it now, a ZC-LSD should work. You have to be careful to look out for at least one thing, though: Does your D16Z6 have a place on the back of the block to bolt the intermediate shaft? I ask because I don't know that engine well. The '88-'91 USDM D16A6 (Si) engine DOES have the holes for the mid-shaft, but the HF and DX engines don't.
If you don't have the provisions for an intermediate shaft, you're going to have to find other solutions. The ZC differential generally requires you to use an intermediate shaft. Some people will swap it out for an Si diff, but that's not as much of an option if you want the ZC's LSD. *MAYBE* you can get the LSD itself to fit into the Si diff, but I don't know how you'd do it.
Easiest/cheapest alternative for you will probably end up being an OBX LSD for your Si or something along those lines. I have no experience with them, but a few people have apparently been actively TRYING to get them to fail (to prove that they're crap), and haven't succeeded yet. Could be they're better than people expect them to be!

thanks i was thinking along the same lines as you. the d16z6 seems to have all of the same holes as the a6 block. i remember switching coolant sensors and counting the holes. so this might work then. Anyone know where i can get an lsd zc or if the $375 obx lsd kit is the way to go.

the ZC LSD differential will fit in the Si transmission, but you will still need the intermediate shaft and 90-93 Integra axles since the splined bore in the ZC differential is larger than all other L3 differentials - or have custom axles made
